Funeral Services for Josephine Armstrong of Gillette, Wyoming will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 15, 2003 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home with Father Kadera of the St. Matthews Catholic Church in Gillette, Wyoming officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette.
Josephine Armstrong entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 5, 2003 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming after a long bout with cancer.
She was born March 20, 1927, in Ophir, Colorado to Guiseppe Joseph Pintarelli and Christina Lell-Pintarelli. The family later moved to Denver, Colorado where Josephine graduated from high school.
On February 3, 1952 she and Jack R. Armstrong were married in Raton, New Mexico. Josephine and Jack lived in several different towns on the West Coast before making Hoquiam Washington their home. In September of 2002 she moved to Gillette to live with her daughter Theresa Stout.
Josephine worked in retail all of her life. As a young adult she worked in Denver, Colorado for the largest Woolworths Department store in the world. She then worked for several different Safeway Stores on the West Coast. After moving to Hoquiam she retired from Swansons Grocery Store after sixteen years of service. Her coworkers and customers fondly knew her as Sweet Loveable Jo.
After retirement from Swansons Josephine was very involved with the Hoquiam Food and Clothing Bank. She was a member of the Hoquiam Eagles Auxiliary, the Grandmothers Club and the Senior Center. She was a long-standing member of Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church.
The joy of her life was her three children and four grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling with her spouse of 47 years to Europe, Hawaii, and the Midwest.
Josephine is survived by her son Rodney and his wife and sons of Ellington, Connecticut; her daughter, Theresa, and her son and daughter of Gillette, Wyoming; her brother John Lell and her sister Rose, both of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack, and one son Richard. Josephine will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband and son.
In Lieu of flowers, the Armstrong family has established a memorial to benefit the Heptner Oncology Center, Hospice of Campbell County Memorial Hospital or a charity of one's choice.
