Josephine Steadman

Josephine Ott Steadman, age 98, of Broadus passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Powder River Manor in Broadus.

Josephine Ott Steadman was born October 9, 1913 in Miles City, MT, the daughter of George & Eva (Fields) Mitchell Ott. On January 31, 1933, she married Alvin Steadman in Miles City. Two years later, they purchased the "Old Mitchell Ranch" near Sonnette which her mother had homesteaded nearly 50 years earlier. She lived there until moving to Powder River Manor in Broadus. Alvin & Josephine had two children, Gene and Vera (Vonnie). Alvin died in 1998.

Josephine is survived by son Gene (Shirley) Steadman, Sun City, AZ and daughter Vonnie (Norman) Shannon, Terry; five grandchildren, Dixie Steadman; Carla Steadman; Brent Steadman; Randy Shannon; and Scott Shannon, eight great grandchildren, Brandy Herald; Ashley, Cady and Kelly Irion; Tyrel, Tell, Randee and Travis Shannon; Elliot and Laura Steadman. She was preceded in death by parents, sister, Vera Ott Burns, and half-brothers J.R. (Dick) Mitchell; Abe Mitchell, Harry Mitchell; Earl Mitchell; Ray Mitchell, George Mitchell and half-sisters, Maude Tarr; Ella McGallian; Birdie Beckstead and Betty.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City.
