I am so saddened by your loss. Praying for comfort and peace to all of the family members. I have good memories of Aunt Joyce at the Pow Wows in Lame deer. She was easy to talk to and I felt kindered with her even though my times with her were limited. She shared her thoughts freely =). I will remember her as a determined and strong willed lady and will always remember the last time I saw her at Pow Wow she was going to come for the day only and make the drive back to Miles City. She had no camping gear but decided to stay the night anyway. She was carting an oxygen tank but didn’t make a big deal of it. It was more of a nuisance to her. Oh Aunt Joyce you are loved and will be missed. Peace be with you.

  4. Custer County Art & Heritage Center says

    December 2, 2011 at 2:07 pm

Joyce was a regular participant in the Art Center’s Quick Draw and Annual Art Auction. She was always willing to lend her time and talent to our fundraising events. Her artworks were sought after by many in the community, the collectors were always eager to bid on her works and they did well. Her presence and smiling face will be missed and remembered at all or our events and openings.

    December 9, 2011 at 3:14 pm

My sincere condolences to all of the family. I grew up with Sandy and the rest of the family and spent alot of time around Joyce. She was my first basketball coach at Garfield school and also coached Sandy and I in Softball. She was so active all the time and I was so amazed at how much energy she had with such a busy schedule of her own. I remeber her walking the school grounds with the geiger counter and she always found pretty cool things. She also gave us rides to school very early in the morning on several cold winter days so we could practice for baskeball or gymnastics. I remember when I was 17 and she had not seen me in a while I showed up at her home to see if Sandy was home and she did not recoginize me, it was so cute. Her house was always busy with something fun or some adventure. She was an expert at keeping young people busy. I loved her and admired her and she will forever be in my fondest memories of home.

    Rest in Peace,

    Cindy Slater Lawson
