Juan Octavio Flores “Sonny Juan” of San Francisco, passed away peacefully on July 9th 2021 due to medical complications.
He was born December 29th 1964 in San Francisco, son of Gilbert Flores and Stephana Whitewolf.
Friends and family of both California and Montana remember him for his kindness, heart and broad sense of humor.
He first moved to Montana when he was 18, during that time he worked for the Northern Cheyenne Forestry firefighting and slashing timber. He also remodeled homes and did wood vending with his uncle Louis Killsnight Sr.
Juan was a member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe and comes from a very large family. He is the great-great grandson of chief Turkey Legs and great grandson of Jean Turkey Legs Poitra. Some of his other extended family include Whitewolf, Whiteshirt, Killsnight, Guavera, Turkey Legs, Flying, Fallsdown, Pickett, Birdinground, Flores and Oldelk.
He is preceded in death by his mother Stephana and sister Cynthia. He leaves behind his beautiful daughter Lucy Threefingers-Flores and niece Summer Flores, a sister Victoria Flores and brother Joseph Flores. He was very close and another adopted son to his aunt Rosella Killsnight.
Graveside funeral services and interment will be held 10am Wednesday Aug. 4th Busby cemetery Montana. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery at 9:45 following a feast at the Mennonite Church in Lame Deer.
