Judy Higgins, age 77 of Miles City, returned home with her Lord Tuesday, December 4th, 2018 in her home with her family by her side after losing her hard fought battle with leukemia (T-PLL).
Judy was born in Miles City, MT, to her parents Harold and Charlotte Weimer. Judy graduated from Custer County District High School in 1959 but was adopted into her husband’s class. She looked forward to the two of them sharing laughs and memories during class reunions with classmates. Judy was married to Royce Higgins on August 8, 1959 in Miles City. They shared 53 years together creating precious memories and living life to the fullest. During their joyful time together they celebrated the birth of two children, Charlene and Bryan Higgins. During her lifetime, Judy worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, which was owned by her father Harold Weimer, Tempo, First Security Bank (Stockman), and the Investment Center. She also was a stay at home mother when her and Royce resided in California for 5 years.
Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and endeared friend. She was a blessing and a light that shined to all those who knew her. Her great-granddaughter, Grace, was her pride and joy and they were attached at the hips. The saying “what happens at grandma’s stays at grandma’s” could definitely be said about these two! She loved spending her time gardening in the summers. Her yard was referred to as Judy’s Jungle and every spring she was filled with excitement as she ordered ladybugs and praying mantis egg cases for her garden. If she could have had it her way she would have had much more than a garden and insects as she always dreamed of having a farm with horses. She also enjoyed going down to the river and walking her dog. She was a very active lady and used to enjoy rollerblading with her granddaughter Breanna. She even told us stories of how she rode a motorcycle and ended up with a black eye, and how she had tried to hide it from her mother-in-law who eventually found out. Her daughter Charlene and her used to love spending hours tole painting on wooden crafts that her husband Royce made for them. She loved spending time with her family watching movies and playing games such as Sequence, Speak Out, Bean Boozled, and cards and also barbecuing meals. She always had to have a Coke to drink because she told us that she drank it straight from her baby bottle. Judy also was very strong in her faith and love for God and enjoyed spending time at her church. There wasn’t a moment that went by that Judy wasn’t making sure everyone around her was taken care of.
Judy is survived by her daughter Charlene, granddaughter Breanna, great-granddaughter Grace, her sisters Billie Ryum (Gary) and Paula Rogge (Byron) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold Weimer and Charlotte, her son Bryan, and her husband Royce.
In lieu of flowers, we feel Judy would like donations made to the Oncology center at Holy Rosary Health Care in Miles City. Per Judy’s request, no funeral services will be held. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com

A piece of our hearts was taken when Judy left. A perfect neighbor. To have the security in knowing that she was just across the street. Watching the family and activities through the years….and casual visits when the opportunity arose. We love you all, and our tears are for you. We know that mom is showing Judy around heaven and they have joy unspeakable.

Chucky, Anne on been on Stevenson’s web site last night and told me about your Mom’s passing. I am so very sorry. Judy and Royce were the best neighbors that anyone could ever have and I still think about how they would wake us up sometimes at 5AM shoveling the snow off our sidewalk. I had the honor of meeting Judy at Fellowship Baptist church. When I was home from Texas recently, I had the pleasure of seeing little Grace get baptized on October 21. Judy was an awesome lady who always had a smile, a hug, and thought of others above herself. My thought and prayers are with the family and friends of this beautiful lady and I look forward to meeting her in Heaven again one day.

I was blessed to go to school in Miles City with Royce and Judy. I will always remember Judy’s faith in her Lord and Savior as well as her upbeat attitude during her illness. As a 10 year cancer survivor myself, I understood her challenge in which she displayed a remarkable joy in her life’s journey. It was a special blessing to worship with her at church. In addition, I will always remember Royce as one of the happiest, friendly, and kind classmates at CCHS. This very special” kind, compassionate, and courageous couple were the “best” of the “best” of our dear hometown of Miles City’s neighbors and friends. They will be remembered , cherished and missed by all. Our prayers are with your family. Bob and Jani ( Myran) DeLange. ( class of 1958 and 1964)

The death of a loved one is the most devastating experience a family can face. At times, the pain of the loss will seem unbearable. Please know that there are friends who care about you and your family during this difficult time and more importantly Psalm 34:18 tells us that “God is near to those that are broken at heart. We pray that Jehovah the God of all comfort is with your family during this difficult time of grief. Our prayers are with you and your family.
