Judy Faye Threefingers, Mabel Fighting Bear (Name Sake), 57, of Lame Deer, MT was called home Maheo’ on September 15, 2020.
Judy was born on April 14th, 1963 in Crow Agency, MT to Lillian and Joseph Threefingers, Sr. Judy grew up in the Ashland and Lame Deer area. She attended Busby School where she graduated in 1981. She played basketball and loved to play softball. Judy was an avid volleyball player as well. She was skillful in many trades, spending her youth as a carpenter and a wild land firefighter. Judy participated in several cultural events, assisting her brothers during ceremonies. She loved to cruise and enjoyed being outdoors. Judy loved her books; she always had one wherever she was. In 1990, she became disabled and had to learn a new way of living. Regardless, Judy lived a full life and touched the lives of everyone she knew. She never let her disability slow her down or stop her from living her life.
Judy was truly a family woman; she always kept her home open for all of her family and friends. Judy had four children; Justin Sr., April, Joni Jo, and Tina. She was an amazing mother and loved her kids with all of her heart, devoting all of her time to her family. She took in many others and took care of them as her own. Judy played a big role in of our lives, often serving as another mother for many. She didn’t have much to give, but she would give it all for the people that she loved. She lent a listening ear to anyone who was troubled, and always had the best advice, maybe with a little teasing, but by the end she always made everyone smile. She would cry as we cried, and smile as we smiled, always putting others before herself. Judy lifted up the hearts of many and encouraged us all to the best we can. She held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. They all gathered around her room and fought for their ‘spots’ on the bed. There was no place shed rather be than right at home. Judy believed in family and loved to see everyone together. One of her favorite things was getting all of the family together for volleyball games at “the land”, often staying until after dark. Family was everything to Judy.
We can take comfort in knowing that Judy is now rejoined with her baby, Tina, her parents, and all the others waiting for us at the next camp. We will all treasure those precious moments, laughs, and memories she leaves us. Judy will be forever missed by all of us.
