Jule Spang Jr. “Boo Boo” age 62 was born on October 24, 1962 to Jule & Elaine Spang Sr. His Indian name given to him by Don Shoulderblade was “Aenohe” Hawk. Jule passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2025 after a short battle with cancer. Leaving behind his loving wife, 5 children & 5 grandchildren.
Boo Boo grew up on the family ranch south of Lame Deer with 8 siblings. As a young man he learned the meaning of hard work, which was instilled in him by his dad & mom. Hard work remained with him throughout his life while providing for his family. In his younger years he participated in youth rodeos with the Little Britches Rodeo Club, did some boxing with the local boxing club, & riding horseback or just running the hills with his siblings & his cousins Merlin & Albert Sioux, I’m pretty sure there’s lots of stories out there in them hills. Jule attended Lame Deer Public School before transferring to St Labre where he became an outstanding athlete in Football & Track. He was selected as 1st Team All Conference Defensive Guard, awarded for most Outstanding Defensive Lineman. In Track he consistently placed 1st or 2nd in Shotput, Discus, & Javelin often setting or breaking records some of which he still holds. In 1981 he qualified for the National High School Rodeo Finals with his brother Gus in the Team Roping Event. Graduating as an Honor roll student in May of 1981, his class Will & Testament “I will my muscles to…” After high school he went to work for BIA Forestry as a Wildland firefighter for several years working his way up the ranks, his current employment was with the N C Housing Authority, he was recently treated to an appreciation dinner for his years of service by the NCHA staff. Somewhere in between his jobs he & his Scooby Doo van would make several trips to Ashland were he met & was putting the moves on the love of his
life Joletta Williams whom he married on February 23, 1994. His best times were sitting around the campfire with family drinking some coldies watching the kids play kick the can waiting to see who was gonna be the first to pout.
