In Memory Of

Julia Michelle Stump, age 41, of Lame Deer

August 27, 1975 – November 12, 2016

Julia Michelle Stump, 41, of Lame Deer Montana, Hoo’honaa’eka’eškonehe’e (Stone Child Woman), passed away along the Rosebud Creek along Highway 212, MT on November 12, 2016. Julia was born on August 27, 1975 to Claudine Killsnight and Calvin Jesse Stump Sr.  She was also raised by her great grandmother Julia Killsnight-Lone Elk.  Julia grew up in Lame Deer, Montana and Provo, Utah, and attended elementary school in Colstrip MT.  She went on to high school at Marsh Valley High School in Rexburg, Idaho.  Later, Julia graduated as the Valedictorian from Busby High School at the age of 16.  She attended Utah Technical College in Provo, UT, and then later worked at Lame Deer High School as a teacher’s aid.  She also worked as a security guard at the Lame Deer Indian Health Services.  Julia worked at the Leheap for a short time and later worked at the commodity building as a file clerk.

Julia’s hobbies were making her own shawl dance outfits. She enjoyed shawl dancing and was a jingle dress dancer.  She traveled to and attended many pow wows with her mother Claudine and her little sister Elena Notafraid.  Julia spent a lot of time together with her mother while she was in a nursing home, until Claudine passed on earlier this year.  Julia and her mother were huge Morning Star fans as well as supporters and attended all the basketball games.  Julia rode horses along with the Little Big Horn Riders of Pine Ridge, SD to the Battle of the Little Big Horn.

Julia is a direct decedent of Chief Littlewolf, a great and noble Chief that led the Northern Cheyenne people back from Oklahoma to our native homeland in Montana.  Julia was a chief child, as the Killsnights are direct decedents of Chief Littlewolf.

She is survived by her two sons: Cedar Cree Stump, 16, of Fort Hall, ID and Spirit Sky Stump, 13, of Lame Deer; sisters: Elena Notafraid, Chenona Alichia Cano of Lame Deer; three brothers: Calvin Jesse Stump Jr. of Fort Hall, ID, Lupe, and Josiah Cano; numerous uncles and aunties Eric Killsnight Sr., Eric Jr., Delane, Jodie, Skylee, Heather, Terrance, Adrian, Anjelicia, John Jr., Joseph, Joshua, Kamon Shotgunn, Marvin Killsnight, Laretha, Emmanuel and his daughter, Cassius Pine, Naomie, Terry, Kobe, Koda, Clyde, Carlene, Cloudin, Lashawna, Kiannie, Skylan, Cheyenne, Shylee, and Hazel Morningstar, M.J., Marlee, Mathias, Hazel, Marvin Jr., Lucas, Julan, Martika, Aiden Roundstone, Nadine, Andrew, Dennis Smalljay, Dominic, Duran, Whitney, Paisey, D.J., Devin, Darica, Darian, Desirae, Event, Consuelo, Eli, Kiemo Lopez, Roger and Mable Killsnight and family, Roger Killsnight Jr. and family, Reginald Killsnight Sr. and family, Lois Jean Killsnight, Eulonda Killsnight, Samantha Killsnight, Heather Horse, Lois Killsnight Jr., Dixie Stump, Marlo Stump, Vidella Stump, Videl Stump Jr., Rueben Stump all of Rocky Boy, MT.  Julia’s extended family includes: Redwoman, Badhorse, Waters, Medicine Elk, Red Cherries, Ridgebear, Redbird, and Whiteman.

Julia was preceded in death by her mother Claudine Killsnight, sister Jessica Stump of Fort Hall, ID, cousin Dusty Francis of Lame Deer, grandpa Martin Killsnight Jr., grandma Hazel Killsnight, great grandma Julia Killsnight-Lone Elk, and grandparents Ruby and Videl Stump Sr. of Rocky Boy, MT.

We apologize if we have forgotten anyone we have a very large family.
