Julie E. Blotsky, age 75, of Miles City passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025 at home with her family by her side.
Julie was born on July 6, 1949, in Wilson, Wisconsin to William and Bernice (Jacobson) Dahms. She was the fourth born out of eight siblings. Julie graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1967. After graduation she married James Roger Blotsky on March 4, 1970. Following their marriage, they moved to Gillette, Wyoming. While there, Jim worked in the oil field and Julie worked at Decker’s grocery store. They were transferred to Miles City for work in 1970. Together they had two children, Darbie and Marnie. Julie worked for Miles Community College for 29 years as the food service director. She also worked at the local 4B’s restaurant as a second job during this time. In the early 90’s, Jim and Julie moved to Kinsey and started a mini farm of their own. Together they raised donkeys, chickens, horses, llamas, and cows. Jim and Julie operated a cleaning business together which included cleaning BLM and Ft. Keogh. They created some great friendships with many of the employees at these sites. Julie retired from MCC in 2012 to stay home and care for her husband as he battled cancer. She never seemed to slow down after retirement and found a job doing what she loves, cooking. Kinsey school students lucked out with a passionate cook for five years and of course while here Julie created many strong bonds with Kinsey locals. This couldn’t even slow Julie down, so she got an evening job as a clerk at a local gas station where she enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces throughout town. In 2019, Julie decided to start a new journey and moved back to her old roots, Billings, MT. Here she got the joy of living with her oldest sister Phyllis and her granddaughter McKenzie. Julie then started a new career as a cashier at Winco grocery store. Julie loved spending time in the outdoors with her husband Jim, fishing, raising farm animals, and gardening. Julie was always ready to cook Jim’s daily catches when he got off the Yellowstone River from a day of boating. One thing that Julie always had in her hand was a cup of strong black coffee. She loved spending time with her family and friends, whether this was sitting outside on the patio reminiscing or traveling someplace together. Julie’s talents were many, she was an extremely accomplished cook, hard worker, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Julie was preceded in death by her husband Jim Blotsky; her parents William and Bernice Dahms; her brothers: Roger Dahms and David Dahms; her sisters: Donna Michael and Vonnie Blackford. She is survived by her two daughters: Darbie (Jason) Karch of Miles City and Marnie Blotsky of Miles City; two grandchildren: Brady Karch & McKenzie Karch of Miles City; her sisters: Linda Wrigg, Paulette Scullen and Phyllis Dahms of Billings.

I’ll always admire Julie’s spunk, her hard work, and her constant ability to be on the go and get things done. She was an amazing woman and partner to Jim.
