Julie Ann Etchemendy, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on March 25, 2013 after a short illness. She was born in Glendive, Montana on December 17, 1932 to Joe and Edith Reinholz. She moved to Miles City to attend Sacred Heart High School and after graduation went to work at Deluxe Motors where she met John Etchemendy. They were married on August 12, 1953. Julie was a doting mother of their four children while she worked from home at the family business, Miles City Sanitation. She was an active bowler, golfer, and bridge and bonco player, however following her children in their sports endeavors always took priority.
Julie had a sweet smile, kind demeanor, lots of patience and was easy going. She maintained lifelong friends, including many from high school and her neighborhoods.
Julie and John bought into a cabin in Red Lodge with other Miles City families. Their family enjoyed many wonderful vacations there for almost 50 years. John and Julie traveled many times to Knights of Columbus conventions and were able to see much of the United States. After retirement, she and John spent several winters in Yuma and they took driving trips with friends and family to Texas, Mexico, Alaska and Louisiana.
Julie was honored at the recent celebration of her life for her 80th birthday party. Many friends and family showed up to share their love, wish her well, and spend time with her. She said that was the happiest day of her life.
Julie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her son Marty, her sister Florence Gasparetti and brothers, Fred, Joe and Jim. She is survived by Jody Etchemendy (Miles City) and her children, Holly Mentikov and Kristine Mentikov, Michelle and Kyle Luckow (Swan Lake) and their daughters, Summerlee and Rachel, and Mike and Jamie Etchemendy (Miles City) and their children Marty, Megan, and Garrett, daughter-in-law Colleen Newton and her children Johnny Etchemendy and Jeffrey Newton and numerous nieces and nephews. All of Julie’s grandchildren were special to her. She always told them “I love you with all my heart.”

All my life I have known Julie. Our family interwined with yours and it was the best. Funny, a good cook, wonderful mother and wife, and I was always welcomed in your home, Heck, I never ever knocked or rang the door bell. The trips to Red Lodge for Scottish dancing, or Burn Night, always a good time. Late nights around the table, eating , playing cards, or the board games loads of laughter and stories. You Julie are unforgetable, and will be truly missed. Prayers, hugs, and Love to the family.

J Johnson says
Dear Family and Friends of Julie Ann Etchemendy, even though I did not personally know Mrs. Etchemendy the loss of every human life is significant to me and should be valued by all. It is obvious according to the information listed above about Mrs. Etchemendy that she was loved and her life touched many people. Her life was also valued by the Creator who recorded in the Bible book of Hebrews that God does not forget all of the love and fine works shown by his servants (Heb 6:10). It was not God’s purpose that mankind suffer and die. At creation God was able to say that everything was “very good” (Gen 1:31) Since Almighty God’s purpose must be fulfilled, mankind will be able live as purposed in perfect Paradise conditions. Even death will be done away with (Revelation 21:4) Faith in these promises will hopefully ease the pain of loss. Meanwhile we have the opportunity to follow Jesus’ instruction to continue to take in Bible knowledge that leads to everlasting life (John 17:3). Hopefully, faith in these Bible promises will ease the pain from this loss as you look forward to seeing Mrs. Etchemendy again under perfect Paradise conditions as promised in the Bible.
