She lived the farm life in Fruitdale, where her mom introduced her to gardening, a love that continued to grow throughout her life. In her middle school years, she moved to Chadron, Nebraska where she lived with her sister and family. There she met and married the love of her life, Steve Morris, on March 28, 1981 at 7 p.m. to this union were born four children.
During the early years of their marriage the couple and their growing family moved to several locations in South Dakota and Nebraska for work. They eventually settled in Belle Fourche in 1990, where they started a Black Hills gold manufacturing company. Steve and Karen raised their family on a farm outside of town. The business and farm work kept her busy, but she still found time to garden, do crafts, and enjoy her children’s sporting events. One of Karen’s favorite crafts was finding “treasures” from garage sales and repurposing them for decorations and gifts for friends and family. Following the sale of their business, Karen went back to school and received her Associates Degree in 2006.
As her children grew up and started families of their own, Steve and Karen relocated to Miles City, Montana. Even this distance, could not keep grandma Karen from her grandchildren and grand puppies.
