Katherine Isobel Kay Witcher Sanders, age 59, of Miles City, Montana, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Holy Rosary Health Care as the result of an automobile accident.

Kay was born January 18, 1948 in Miles City, Montana, the daughter of John F. Witcher and Helen Donna Coughlin Witcher. Kay was the youngest of three children; her older brothers were James E. Jim and John F. Witcher III, Jack. Jim and Jack fought over Kay when she was a baby, each wanting to take care of their baby sister. She spent a year of her early childhood at home on the ranch on the Bobcat Creek with her father, helping him feed cattle and chop ice through the winter, before moving into Miles City with her mother and two brothers to start school.

Kay attended grade school in Miles City and graduated from Custer County High School in 1966. She went to work for the Mountain Bell Telephone Company, then First Security Bank, and Farm Credit Services, where she worked for twenty-four years. In 1996, Kay joined the Stockman Bank as the agriculture administrative assistant, a job that she greatly enjoyed. Kay deeply loved the people that she worked with, and all of the people that she served. Kay remained with Stockman Bank until her untimely death.

Kay and Keith Holmlund were married in September of 1968, and one child was born to this union, JaimiHolmlund, in 1977. Kay was a wonderful mother, always supportive and always loving; Jaimi was greatly blessed to have a mother who was also her best friend. Kay and Keith were divorced in 1986, and Kay, her mother Donna, and daughterJaimi moved to their new home in Kinsey near Kays brother Jack, where Kay thrived in her new home. Kay met Joe Sanders in the fall of 1991, and they were married in August of 1992. Kay and Joe loved to work together on their beautiful home, care for their beloved dogs, and spoil their grandchildren. Their marriage was built on love, respect, and the deepest care for one another. Kay had friends beyond number, and was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother and sister that anyone could wish for.

Kay was a spiritual person who had deep faith in Jesus Christ. So much of her beauty radiated from her faith and her desire to walk with the Lord. She tried every day to live her life as He wants us to, showing love to all people, rich or poor, and forgiving others as she had been forgiven. She was truly an example of how we all should live.

Kay is survived by her husband, Joe Sanders of Miles City; her daughterJaimi and her husband Shane Balsam ofPowderville, MT, and their two children,Kolette and Heath; her brother, Jack Witcher and his wife Carrol of Kinsey, MT; two step-sons, Ronald Sanders and his wife Bonnie of Palo Alto, CA and Bradley Sanders and his wife Michele of Bakersfield, CA; and four step-grandchildren. Kay is also survived by five nieces and nephews: Jeff, Donna Lynn, Cindy, Kelly, and Chris, whom she loved as if they were her own children; and her dearest, oldest friend, Julie Jordan.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest brother, Jim. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Stevenson and Sons Funeral
