Kathleen H. (Fry) “Kathy” Hove, age 85, of Circle passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the McCone County Health Center.
Kathleen was born January 18, 1935 at her grandma Reed’s house in Van Wert, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Clara “Ellen” (Reed) Fry. She was the 5th of 11 children. There were no hospitals within 30+ miles. A Dr. would come to say “all is okay”. She started school in Grand River where her dad worked on a farm and graduated from 8th grade. They moved to Orient, Iowa and in 1953, she graduated from Orient High School. She participated in basketball and was homecoming queen. Soon after graduating, Kathy took a job at a factory in Creston where she did well. She saved money and decided to take a bus trip to visit her brother and his wife in Montana. This is where she met Archie who was working on an oil well in the same area. They met at a dance in Wolf Point, Montana and he was the love of her life for 60 years. They were married on November 14, 1953 in Wolf Point and raised five children. They lived on the Hove family farm until the kids started school and they moved into Circle, Montana for school in the early 1960’s. Kathleen received her LPN in 1968 and spent many years in the medical field in many different areas (Surgery, ER, office nurse and worked in the lab and x-rays). Archie passed in 2013. Kathy retired from nursing in her 70’s.
Kathy was a hard worker, compassionate nurse and loving wife and mother. She prayed her children were not neglected as they have all done very well and she can rest in peace being a very proud mother. She was proud of her family’s achievements in sports, music, academics and career choices. She was thankful for her granddaughter Kimberly and her husband Dan Haynie as they were responsible for her having a place and help her with her weakening body.
Kathy is survived by her children: daughter Daleen (Tom) Heitz of Billings, MT; sons Sydney (Mary) Hove of Minot, ND; Mark (Gina) Hove of Circle, MT and Philip Hove of York, PA; her sister Lena (Tom) Rauh; brothers: Doyle (Darlene) Fry, Roger (Beth) Fry and Randy (Samantha) Fry all of Iowa; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson Silas. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, five brothers, a grandson Christopher Hove in 2009 and a son Arnie Hove who passed August 22, 2020.

To all of Kathy’s family,
My heart is sad that she is gone, but so truly happy that she is “”Free” from her worldly pains and strife. She was very special to me as all “God Mothers” should be to their Godchildren. Rest in peace.

Condolences to the Hove family. I so appreciated Kathy as she helped train me and helped direct me in my career path as a nurse. I worked at McCone County Hospital with her when I was in high school . She was always good at teaching and explaining. I remember she had a good sense of humor too.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Hove Family. I had the pleasure of meeting Kathy and Archie when I became friends with their son Philip. I spent a few weekends at the Hove home in Circle and felt so welcomed. Kathy showed a deep and true love for her family and that love and friendship was extended to me. For many years we exchanged Christmas cards after I left Montana to join the Air Force. She kept me abreast of all the happenings in the lives of her children and grand children and was so very proud of them all. I find comfort in my memories of her and the fact that I know her and Archie are reunited!
