SERVICE IS POSTPONED!
The service that was to take place on Saturday, January 20 has been postponed. Please, look for future updates!
Kathleen Kirschenmann Strecker was a very loving wife, mother, sister, Aunt, and friend. She left this world on January 12, 2023 at age 71 with her family by her side. She was born to Alvin and Anna Kirschenmann on May 28th, 1952. She grew up in Hardin Montana with 4 siblings, Carol, Paul, Jane, and Linda. She graduated from Hardin High School in May of 1970.
She met the love of her life in 1968 while she was in high school. They met on a blind date and it was love at first sight. That man was David Strecker. At that time, David was in college in Bozeman and he made sure to go home to Hardin every weekend to see his new love. In the fall of 1969, David signed up for the National Guard. Kathy graduated in May of 1970. The two soul mates were married June 26th, 1970. David left for basic training in the fall of that year. When he was finally able to come home, he had a 2 month old son waiting for him. Soon after meeting his oldest child, he was off for further military training.
In April of 1971, David was back with the love of his life in Billings and went to work for Meadowgold as a delivery driver for six months and then began full time work at the National Guard in Billings. July 25th 1973 their baby girl was born. They continued to live in Billings until the fall of 1974 when they made the amazing decision to move to Strecker Farms in Big Horn Montana to join the rest of the family. Kathy and David lived and worked on the farm for just under 20 years, when they had to leave due to some health problems. Their kids were grown, so they decided to move to Billings and find a new life.
David worked for a couple different sporting goods warehouses and ended up being the manager. Kathy found work as a medical transcriptionist for many years. In 2013, they decided to make another big life decision and they moved to Forsyth, MT to get out of the big city. In Forsyth, David worked for Red Rock Sporting goods store in Miles City for many years. Kathy began working for Rosebud County Health and Care Center eventually becoming a records specialist. David eventually began working for Rosebud County Health and Care Center as a transportation driver which he truly loved. David and Kathy felt their coworkers there were a part of their family and are truly appreciated.
In late December of 2023, Kathy’s health began declining and then it slowly took her away from us. We are all now missing a huge part of our lives and the outpouring of love from our family, friends, and community has been overwhelming. It’s very heartwarming to know what an impact that Kathy made on so many lives and to know that she was loved by so many.
Kathy is survived by her soul mate, David, and her son David Alan (Christina), and her daughter Tana Renae (Brian), her grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, Ashlee, Brendan, Shayla, Andon, and step grandchildren, Stephon, Josie, Kyla, Brook, and Connor, her mother Anna, and siblings Carol (Leo), Jane ( Jerry), Paul (Cindy), Linda (Jim), as well as her in-laws Eddy (Alice), Jake, Judy (Duane), Cindy, and many nieces and nephews that loved her. Kathy is preceded in death by her father Alvin and Brother-in-law Mike Mehling.

I enjoyed getting to know Kathy here in Forsyth when she worked part-time for the FSA office. She grew up around Hardin and was just a few years older than my Dad, aunts and uncles. My family ended up living the home Kathy and David owned on 12th street and visited with them about that as well. Kathy was kind to me and I appreciated every opportunity I had to visit with her.

Sweetheart Kathy…the peacemaker of our family. She never had a bad word to say about others. Those traits are hard to witness in most others anymore. Imagine knowing someone who thought about and worried about everyone but herself…then combine that with her extraordinary ability to crack a joke to lighten up any situation. Yet her comic relief never focused on anyone becoming the butt of the joke, so that allowed everyone to laugh, and absolutely no one to feel bad. How many people can accomplish that? Going to really miss you, Sis. We now have the best angel watching over us.

My condolences to the family. When losing a loved one it can be unbearable. In the Bible book of Isaiah 25:8 Jehovah God promises soon to “swallow up death forever.” He also promises to bring back those who have fallen asleep in death (Acts 24:15). In a little while longer this kind of pain will be a thing of the past (Revelations 21:4). May these scriptures bring you comfort in this difficult time (jw.org)

Dave, Dave Jr., Tyler and ALL the family — our hearts break for you! Dave & Kathy were the bestest neighbors and became true friends. No matter the time or day you could always go over and visit with Kathy about everything under the sun — it didn’t matter you were always welcome! Kathy gave some of the best advice and I just wish we had gotten together one more time. Love you Kathy — rest easy!

Always had fun talking with Kathy down at the office. We laughed that we both missed out on getting the Computer gene because we both struggled with computers. I’ll miss her laugh and smile. My condolences to the family.
