Kathryn Louise Robinson, age 89, of Miles City, Montana, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at her home surrounded by family.
Kay was born on January 31, 1934, in Miles City, Montana, the daughter of John Verner and Eleanor (Stilwell) Pauley. The Pauley family moved from Miles City when she was young to Wallace, Idaho, on to Anaconda, Montana, and finally back to the Pauley family ranch south of Miles City. Kay began her education in Miles City, Montana, and upon returning she received her diploma from Custer County District High School. Kay continued her education at Miles Community College, where she studied business.
Kay and Jean H. Robinson were united in marriage on December 28, 1953, during a candlelit ceremony where the church aisle was adorned with poinsettias. Kay then joined Jean on the Robinson ranch, where together, they were blessed with two boys, Jean Jr. and Scot. They were married 45 wonderful years before Jean passed away in 1999.
Kay enjoyed raising sheep and goats for many years. She took pride in showing her goats at various shows across the region where she won many awards. Kay held a special bond with animals of all kinds; they were uniquely drawn to her. Kay had an undeniably green thumb and always grew a large garden as well as many stunning flower beds. She had a passion for photography, as well as quilting. In her spare time, she made numerous beautiful quilts for her family.
Kay took joy in every aspect of ranch life: from caking bulls to fencing, as well as delivering lemonade to the hay field, and everything in between. She enjoyed helping out wherever she could. Throughout her life she remained busy; there was always something to be done. Above all else, she put everyone’s needs before her own.
She is survived by her two sons: Jean Robinson Jr. and Scot Robinson, both of Powderville, MT; daughters-in-law Angy Robinson of Powderville, MT and Lynn Praetorius of Miles City, MT; Matt Donnelly of Philip, SD, who was like a son to Kay; a brother, John Pauley of Casa Grande, Arizona; four grandchildren: Shari (Clayton) Heitz of Brockway, MT, Jodi (Kyle) Simmons of Powderville, MT, Nathan (Jaci) Robinson of Miles City, MT, and Kelli Robinson (Cameron Bethke) of Powderville, MT; and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

From my earliest memories, she has been a delight in my life! Yes, her conversation with her signature chuckles, is missed. Those laughs were in my view, her joy bubbling out 🙂
A few years ago, I was able to reconnect at a Junior High VOLLEYBALL game, with her great granddaughter from Circle, playing against my granddaughter from Broadus.
A cherished visit!!!
