Kathleen Kathy Yvonne David, age 73, of Miles City passed away at her home on March 10, 2009.
Kathy was born on March 23, 1935 in Tacoma, Washington, the daughter of Norris Herbert and Lorraine (Gamache) Berg. She and her mother Lorraine moved to Miles City where Kathy attended Lincoln Elementary School and quickly began to loved colors, art, drawing, sketching and the beautiful pictures in her school. Kathys step-father, Carl Hanson of the Jordan area and her mother left Miles City with Kathy in the early 40s for the Portland area where Kathy loved the flowers, plants and the lush settings for her early paintings. When the Hansons returned after the war, Kathy was very mature and responsible for her little sister Mara Lee whom Kathy adored. Carl and Lorraine turned the early day Becker Mansion into the Club Rendezvous Night club witt the gold fixtures in the upstairs for the children to see in awe. Kathy and her friends would dance around the rooms, two steps forward and one back at Kathys birthday parties. Kathy was a beautiful little blonde child who loved all mediums of art and continued to perfect and develop her skills throughout life. Kathy was injured in a motor scooter type accident as a young girl but mended eventually. She would not give up and always finished her projects adverse or not. Kathy worked for the local phone company which led her to many new friendships and gave her a job for many years in a number of areas including Billings, Fort Smith, Arkansas, Denver, Louisiana and others.
Kathys artistic talents included wonderful gown designs inspired by notes and sketches taken as she peered through expensive shop windows of the early 50s. Gowns dresses, ensembles & elegant womens apparel she could do wonderfully. Her love of design and elegant sewing endeavors were amazing. Kathy was a loving, giving, independent spirited soul. Her stylish flare was unique.Although Kathy was plagued by illness for many of her later years, her love for family, mamma Lorraine, Aunt Lucille her niece and nephews of Mara Lees first family was constant. She also cherished her childhood friends, the arts, her incredible talents her conversion to Catholicism, her cleverness with dcor and lifelong grace and attitude. The song says, I did it my way.
Kathy is survived by her sister, Mara Lee of Missoula, MT; two nephews: Craig and Cory Platz of Flower Mound, TX; and a niece Tara Laufenberg of Everett, WA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. A Scripture service will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will be held in the Mount View Cemetery in Billings.
