In Memory Of

Kathy Henry, age 63, of Terry, MT.

July 2, 1954 – December 11, 2017

Kathy Henry passed away unexpectedly of natural causes in Terry, MT. on December 11th, 2017.

Kathy Henry was born July 2, 1954 in Valley City, North Dakota to Harold and Hilda (Hamstad) Pedersen. In 1969 Kathy moved to Miles City and attended school in Miles City. Kathy met Art Henry in Miles City and they were married May 20, 1972. They lived in various places in Eastern Montana while Art worked for area ranches. In 1980 they settled in Terry Mt where they have remained and raised their three children, Todd, Buck and Thea.

Kathy was never one to sit still and was involved in many endeavors and occupations during her time in Terry. Kathy first opened her Beauty shop in 1980 and considered her customers over the years her dear friends. In addition to her Beauty shop which she continued to operate she served as the graveyard dispatcher in Prairie County from 1987 -1996. After that she served as part time caretaker at the County cemetery from 1996 – present.

Squeezed in-between all that Kathy loved being involved with her kids in 4 – H, raising sheep, having morning coffee with her friends, baking, playing cards, and was a hard one to beat shaking dice. Most importantly she liked to give her friends a little grief and if you got the “Look” from Kathy you knew you were a true friend. Even though Kathy was diagnosed with MS in 1990, her stubbornness to not let that bother her, didn’t slow her down.

In 1998 Kathy was elected Justice of the Peace in which she took great pride in serving her community by treating everyone honestly and fairly.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 45 years Art, her children Todd, Buck (Kristie), and Thea, grandchildren Talia and Travis, sisters Maureen Young, Karen South, Holly Terrell and brother Harold (Leann) Pedersen and many nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law Doug Young and Bruce Terrell.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Interment will follow in the Prairie County Cemetery. She did so much for the people of Terry and we are grateful to have known her. She bantered with my dad like no one else. He so enjoyed trying to “one up” her -which didn’t happen often with Kathy. Art and Kids, We are so saddened by Kathy’s passing. She was a good friend and the best neighbor a person could ask for this summer while we lived across the fence. Her MS was a struggle, but she never used it as an excuse, and worked harder than most healthy people I know. She was generous and so good to so many people, especially the elderly. We appreciated how good she was to Lester and Dele. She will be missed in the community. I’m sorry we aren’t there for you guys. (I never got to tell her how yummy the cantaloupe syrup she sent with us was! We loved it.) Kathy most certainly is flying with the angels now.

Art and Family, I am so sorry for the loss of Kathy. I will miss our trips that Kathy and I did while going to school. She loved to talk and that made it all go fast. I always gave her a bad time about needing to stop and have a smoke break. She just said, deal with it, pull over, or I will tell stories about you at the next school we would be attending. Well I would pulled over she smoked and be darn she still told stories. What a lady, called it the way it was and you always knew where you stood with her. Her judicial eye was unique and will be missed. I will miss her, her jam and benefits of the garden. God bless. Always, Judge Neese.
