In Memory Of

Kayleigh Ruby Fredericks, infant daughter of Makayla Fredericks, of Lame Deer

March 22, 2022 – March 22, 2022

Our precious little angel, Kayleigh Ruby Fredericks – Voestaa’e ‘White Buffalo Calf Woman, named after her great great grandmother Ruby Spottedwolf Flying. Kayleigh was born and returned to our Creator Maheo’o on March 22, 2022.

Kayleigh was born at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, MT, daughter of Makayla Fredericks. Kayleigh comes from a long line of cowboys and warriors of the Northern Cheyenne, Crow, Mandan/Arikara/Hidatsa. She is also a “chief’s child,” as she comes from a line of Northern Cheyenne Chiefs, Chief Spottedwolf and Chief Dull Knife.

When Kayleigh made her entrance into this world, everyone was in awe at how beautiful she was and is. Her face resembled her mommy and had curly eyelashes and thick black hair. Everything about her was perfect.

Although our time with Kayleigh was short, we cherished every moment with her, including those 9 months of watching her grow and kick in her mommy’s tummy. We all already loved her so much.

Kayleigh is survived by her mother – Makayla Fredericks, grandparents – Yvonne Badhorse and Benedict Fredericks, Debbie and Scott Russell, Serese, Delphina, William Teeth, Keith Bear great grandmas – Patricia Flying-Yellowfox, Cheryl Howe, Dawn Johnson-Fredericks, Charlene C Gourd, Judith Flying Keasey Uncles and Aunties – Rosalia Badhorse (Gary), Lefaye Russell, Shania Russell (Cody), Devan Russell (Gloria), Nolan Limberhand, DeShawn, Seja, Robin Lozano, Tammy Raines, cousins – Kyson, Luna, and Devan Jr.

Relatives that proceed her in death are her – Great great grandparents Frank & Ruby (Spottedwolf) Flying, Sarah Roundstone, Ben & Marie Fredericks, great grandma Wreatha Plentycamps, great grandpa’s Loren Fredericks, Alfred (Badhorse) Teeth, Charles Yellowfox, Donlin Hismanybadhorses, Walter Blackwolf, Grandpa Marcus Capture, Uncle Scott Dannon Russell.

Other relatives include Spottedwolf, Flying, Bement, Hurff, Small, Spang, Roundstone, Blackwolf, Howe, and Fredericks from North Dakota, Yellow Eagle from Oklahoma. Please forgive us if we have forgotten anyone in our time of grief.

Only a moment you stayed, but what an imprint your footprints have left on our hearts. -D. Ferguson

Makayla, and all Kayleigh’s family, I know you don’t know me at all, and I don’t know you, but I wanted you all to know you’re in my thoughts and I just lifted you all up to Creator’s ear and asked Him to help and comfort all of you. My heart is with you all.

While i dont know you personally I am so very sorry for your loss of your beautiful little girl. 46 years ago we lost our little girl at 3 months old from SIDDS. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and please allow yourself to grieve, it will be a long road, dont let anyone tell you that grief has a time period. A parent is not suppose to bury their child and while we will never understand why death comes so early in our childs life I do believe that all of our children are with God. Please accept my condolences.

So sorry for your loss. What a beautiful baby and what an honorable ancestry. May you find peace that God promises through such a difficult time and may you be comforted in knowing that she is with so many wonderful, honorable family members and Christ himself.

To the family of Kayleigh Ruby Fredericks always cherish the fond memories of time spent together and although you may grieve the Bible can be a source of comfort. At (Revelation 21:3,4) it speaks of a time when there will be no more sickness or death, also at (Acts 24:15) it speaks of a resurrection that we all can look forward to. May the peace and love of the God of all comfort be with you all. Comfort can be found in our Creator through prayer and through his word the Bible and in Jesus Christ.

So sorry for your loss. As I have lost 2 baby grandkids. One at birth the other at 4 months. It is very hard to understand why babies would have to go to heaven but I also under that he has his reasons and we can not judge his decision. May you find peace in the decision that he has made. And comfort knowing she is in a beautiful place.
