Funeral service for Kelly Schmelzle will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at the First Assembly of God Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Orvil Holden officiating. Burial will follow in the Gillette-Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Kelly Sue Schmelzle, age 36 passed away at her home near Gillette, WY on December 13, 2003. Cause of death has not been determined.
Kelly Sue Schmelzle was born on August 2, 1967 to Darrel and Sina (Taylor) Craig in Gillette, Wyoming. She was raised and educated in Gillette and graduated from Campbell County High in 1985. Kelly attended Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska for two years and transferred to Black Hills State in Spearfish, South Dakota where she received her Bachelors degree in accounting. Kelly returned to Gillette to fulfill her ambition and being employed in bookkeeping for Deckers Food Center for one year before she went to work with the Campbell County Memorial Hospital for two years. She married Robert Rob Schmelzle on February 14, 1996 in Deadwood, South Dakota. Kelly for a short time worked for Dunbar Well Service and Powder River Transportation. She was employed with Thunder Basin Ford at the time of her death.
Kelly was involved with the Festival of Trees with the Campbell County Memorial Hospital for several years. Her passion was to make porcelain dolls that she entered in shows and had received numerous ribbons and prizes. Kelly enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing and spending time with her dogs, Tippy and Ivy. Although she had no children of her own, she was involved in the lives of Robs children, Quade and Darla Schmelzle, whom she cared for very much.
She is survived by her husband Robert Schmelzle of Gillette, Wyoming, her parents, Darrel and Sina Craig of Gillette, Wyoming, two brothers, Kevin (Shelly) Craig, Kyle (Nicole) Craig both of Gillette, Wyoming, mother-in-law, Cyndi (Winston) Hamilton of Kentucky, her father-in-law, Robert S. (Debbie) of Janesville, California.
Kelly is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and one aunt.
