Vigil service will be held on Monday, at 9:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City.
Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday, April 12, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City.
Interment will follow in the family lot in the Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.
Kenneth Bowar, age 72, of Miles City passed away on Tuesday, April 06, 2004 at his home in Miles City.
Ken was born in Faulkton, South Dakota on August 23, 1931, the son of Leo and Isabel (Muehl) Bowar. He attended schools in Orient, South Dakota where he graduated from High School. Following his schooling in 1949, he entered the United States Air Force where he was a staff sergeant during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1953. Following his discharge, he married Helen Hokama on March 21, 1953 in Hawaii. Following their marriage, Ken and Helen moved to South Dakota where they lived for a few months before moving to Miles City where they have lived for over 50 years. Ken went to work for the Milwaukee Railroad for a few months then went to work for the Mitchell Agency where he worked for 50 years before retiring in April of 2003. Ken was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Lions, Eagles, and the American Legion. Ken enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed traveling and bowling and loved to watch sports. Ken especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Ken is survived by his wife, Helen Bowar of Miles City, MT; two children: Treba Berger of Bozeman, MT; and Larry Bowar of Belgrade, MT; a brother, Chuck Bowar of Faulkton, SD; three sisters: Corrine Murley of Sioux Falls, SD; Mildred Gebhart of Fergus Falls, MN; Diane Thorrin of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren: April Berger of Portland, OR, Ryan Berger of Hanover, New Hampshire; and Kalie Bowar of Belgrade, MT.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2004 in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
