Kenneth Howard Medicine Bull, Ve’Keseo’oxhaestoxese “Heap of Birds,” age 64, of Birney made his journey to the Other Camp on January 15, 2021 at St. Vincent Healthcare Center in Billings, Montana. He was born in Crow Agency, Montana to Burt Medicine Bull, Sr. and Ellen Kingfisher- Kaline. Kenneth was raised by his grandparents, Willis and Annie Medicine Bull. He was proud to be Suhtaio and carried out the Suhtaio Traditions in everything he did. He loved horses, gourd dancing, and emceeing for pow wows and large gatherings.
Kenneth grew up in the Medicine Bull Valley of Birney, Montana and attended schools at St. Labre and Hardin before acquiring his G.E.D. For a short time, he attended the University of Missoula where he made the Dean’s List. He later attended Chief Dull Knife College where he earned his Bilingual Teaching Certification. He met Connie Klemp and married her on October 1, 1978 in Missoula, Montana. In this marriage, they had six children: Jason Kaline, Tory (Verna) Medicine Bull, Heath (Brooke) Medicine Bull, Amber Medicine Bull, Darold Foote, and the late Gevy (Arnold) Coyote Runs Sr.
Kenneth was a member of the Native American Church and Kit Fox Society; he was also a Sundance Priest. Throughout Kenneth’s life, he was a rancher and held numerous jobs within the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. Some of his greatest accomplishments include traveling to Helena to secure funding for road improvements throughout the reservation and playing a big part in the establishment of the Lame Deer High School. He loved his Cheyenne people and took pride in being a part of anything he could.
Kenneth was also a master craftsman who enjoyed beading, leatherwork, woodworking, and making traditional gourd dancing regalia. One of his favorite hobbies was playing hand games. He especially liked competing in Crow Agency and playing all night long. Kenneth loved his family and he prayed for them every morning. He truly believed in the power of prayer.
