Kevin Kalfell passed to the Big Blue on Apri 1, 2018 peacefully in his sleep in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Kevin was born in Terry, Montana on July 9, 1955 to Bruce and Merry Kalfell. The second of five boys, Kevin was called to be a cowboy from the day he was born, His love for horses and cattle was a perfect fit for the many years he later spent working with both. Kevin graduated from Terry High School in 1974. On June 14, 1975, Kevin married his High school sweetheart Toni Freiboth, They lived one year in Terry after their marriage with Kevin driving back and forth to the Ranch. In 1976, Bruce and Merry and Kevin and Toni exchanged residences and Kevin then began living his dream life of operating and continuing the legacy of Kalfell Ranch.
To their union Kelby Kay Kalfell was born October 21, 1980 in Miles City, Montana. Kevin spent many years watching and loving every minute of Kelby’s many sporting endeavors in both Junior high and High School. Most everyone knew of Kevin’s proudness for his Son as he spoke of it often.
Though the love of the Ranch never left Kevin, in 2014 he decided he wanted to retire and spend time with Son Kelby and Family in Bismarck, North Dakota. Along with the love of his Wife, Son Kelby and Family and the Ranch came his love of golf. In January of 2015 after working alongside his brother Lance for 40 years, Kevin and Toni made the move to Bismarck. Kevin’s new love was being able to watch his two Grandsons Traiden and Brycen excel both scholastically and athletically. Besides being able to spend more time with Family, Kevin now could enjoy a round of golf any day the weather permitted.
Kevin spent some time working on the Prairie County Fairboard in the 1980’s.
There was never a person Kevin didn’t call Friend and he had the amazing ability to visit with anyone even if it was a stranger. A true admirable quality he continued to his last day.
Kevin is survived by his wife of 42 years, Son Kelby and wife Carri and Grandsons Brycen and Traiden who he loved beyond words all of Bismarck. Dad and Mother Bruce and Merry Kalfell of Terry, Brothers Randy (Renee) of Billings, Lance (Lisa) of Terry, Brent (Becci) of Worland, Wyoming and Clint (Myra) of Miles City, Montana. Brother-in-Laws Wray (Ramona) of Arvada, Colorado, Lane (Sherry) of Great Falls, Montana, Wade (Dianne) of Billings, Montana and Jere (Jeannine) of Terry, Montana, and several nieces and nephews he cherished and loved as his own.
Kevin was preceded in death by his Grandpa George Kalfell and Grandma Gladys Kalfell, Grandfather Herman Rogge and Grandmother Montana Rogge, his Father-in law Ray Freiboth and Mother-in-law Roberta Freiboth, Nephew Jason Freiboth and Great Nephew Manny Kalfell.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Terry High School Gym where Kevin spent many hours watching Terrier basketball.
Reception to follow at the American Legion Club in Terry. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.
Due to Kevin’s casual ways, he would request casual attire if attending the service.

Second day of work at Riverwood Golf Course today and I asked Kosmo where Kevin was and why he wasn’t playing with his usual group!
Saddened by his response. My condolences to the family from the gang down at Riverwood. Kevin was a joy to be around and even a bigger treat to play golf with! When I kidded him about always riding in the cart, his usual response was a cowboy only gets out of the pickup for two reasons: to open the gate or to close the gate! God BlessCowboy
