In Memory Of

Kortni South, age 15, of Jordan.

December 28, 2001 – May 29, 2017

Kortni Kathryn South of Jordan, MT passed away May 29, 2017 in a tragic vehicle accident. Kortni was born December 28, 2001 in Miles City, MT to Kent and Chevell (Ryan) South.

Kortni, also known as Tootie or Bugs, attended school in Jordan. She would have been a sophomore this fall at GCDHS. One of her accomplishments was becoming quite an athlete. She joked about not knowing where she got this skill, as no one in her immediate family was very athletic! She enjoyed playing volleyball and was a very aggressive basketball player. Kortni enjoyed her school years making many friends and spending time with them and their families. Summers were spent at the pool and the family cabin at Hell Creek swimming, boating, skiing, tubing, and fishing. Kortni faced her world head on and her dream was to become an RN. She just recently started taking CNA classes. She was a beautiful kind person with an infectious smile and sense of humor. Everyone fell in love with her. Heaven now has a special angel.

Kortni is survived by her parents, Kent and Chevell South, sister Samantha South, brother Jake South, grandparents Kenneth and Kathy South and Tom and Shelley Ryan, great grandmother Freda Stinebaugh, great grandfather Ralph Clark, aunt Kristy (Nathan) Saylor and family, Uncle Kevin (Tonya) South and family, Uncle Kenneth Ryan and family as well as numerous other great aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kortni was preceded in death by her great grandparents; Joey and Margret South, Kay Clark, Roy Stinebaugh, and George and Joyce Ryan.

We will never forget the moment your heart stopped and ours kept beating!

Graveside services will be Thursday June 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stinebaugh family cemetery at the Kenneth Ryan Ranch north of Jordan on the Hell Creek Road.

Donations may be made to the Jordan Athletic Club or to the charity of their choice.

I’m the assistant volleyball coach from Broadus and remember Kortni being a great player with a bright smile last year. We’ve been in a similar situation as my husband’s sister recently passed away from a car accident and we hope you can find some comfort in knowing someone in the same boat has been keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers the past few weeks. Keep your faith and take care.

  36. B. J.Hylton says

    June 25, 2017 at 2:39 am

So deeply sorry about the death of Kortni. Losing someone so tragically is heartbreaking, and I want to send my sincere condolences to your family and friends. Death is not what God wanted for mankind, he created us to live forever. Life would have been so different, if Adam and Eve had listened to God. Because of their rebellious attitute, they brought sin and death to all mankind. To save mankind, God sent his only-begotten son, Jesus Christ, to earth to give his life for us, thus, giving mankind an opportunity for life. (John 3:16) While on earth Jesus demonstrated on a small scale what he will do for mankind on a far grander scale in the near future. He healed the sick, lame, blind and even raised the dead. When his dear friend Lazarus passed away, the Bible says, he gave way to tears, then looking toward heaven, he prayed and said in a loud voice, Lazarus come out! Lazarus came out wrapped in a cloth and Jesus asked them to remove it. (John 11:38-44) We, too, have the resurrection hope to look forward to. It will be a time of great joy being reunited with our loved ones again. John 5:28, 29, Acts 24:15 tell us about this. Until then, Isaiah 41:10, 13 says, God will take you by the right hand saying, do not be afraid for I am with you. God promises to be there every step of the way during this difficult time, and I hope these comforting scriptures bring you a measure of hope. Christian hope and love
