Interment: Poplar Cemetery

Our precious Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother and Friend, Lanny Riley of Poplar, Montana passed away Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Billings Clinic in Billings, MT.

Lanny was born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin on August 31, 1946 to Kenneth Riley and Joyce Riley-Nelsen. In 1954, they divorced and Joyce moved the family to Montana, eventually settling in Poplar. In 1964, Lanny joined the U.S. Navy and served his country until he was honorably discharged in July, 1971.

He married Florence Janus on August 24, 1968 in East Lyme, CT. Together they raised their two children, Vicky and Monte, in Poplar, MT.Lanny enjoyed spending time with his family, always providing entertainment playing his guitar and telling jokes; he was the life of the party. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Kevin (K.C.) Riley, Sebastian and Alayna. Lanny spent many spring and summer evenings after work tending to his yard, flower beds, and his garden. He enjoyed relaxing in his workshop doing woodwork. He brought many smiles to family and friends sharing with them what he had crafted.

Lanny had a very strong work ethic and over the years held many different jobs. He was employed as a sanitary man, bartender, and a heavy equipment operator. Since August of 1982, he was employed by A&S Tribal Industries/A&S Diversified as a machinist. He took great pride in the quality of his work.

Lanny was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth, and his mother, Joyce, brothers, Dennis (who died in infancy) and Randy, brother-in-law, Stanley Wang, and nephew, Mike Wang.

He is survived by his loving wife, Flo; his daughter, Vicky (Kevin) Schindler of Poplar; his son, Monte Riley of Medford, OR; his grandchildren, Kevin (K.C.) and Riley Schindler, Sebastain and Alayna Riley; four sisters, Barbara Wang, Karen (Claude) Adamson, Bonette Bonnie Bechtel, and Paulette (Clete) Leinen; four brothers, Monte (Linda) Riley, Larry (Margaret) Riley, Harlan (Jackie) Reidiger and Jeff (Julie) Nelsen; numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews too numerous to mention.

Many thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and CNAs at Northeast Montana Health Services of Poplar, and also of Billings Clinic for the warm and tender care given to our beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Brother.

Lanny will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Until we meet again you will forever be in our hearts. We all love you so much.
