Larry L. Truscott, 78, left this world Saturday, November 28, 2020 to join his son, John Russell “Rusty” Truscott, 52, who passed away November 15, 2020.
Larry was born in his grandparents’ farmhouse on March 25, 1942. Larry’s parents were Lawrence E. Truscott and Genevieve Irene McCoy of Aledo, Texas. While in high school, Larry held the state presidency of his FFA Chapter. Larry showed fat steers at the Parker County Livestock show in Weatherford, Texas all four years during high school. Larry won grand champion every year except one at which time he won grand champion and reserve grand champion. Larry graduated from Sul Ross State University in May 1965 with a BA in Ranch and Wildlife Management. Because of the collapse of the cattle market, he became a registered health inspector for the city of Fort Worth, Texas from 1965-1972 at which time he had had all of the big city life he could enjoy and went back to the life that he loved.
Larry made his living out of a saddle. He cowboyed for some of the largest ranches in West Texas and the Southwestern part of the USA. Larry and Edith Shoemaker were married on November 5, 1999 in Clayton, New Mexico. As soon as the judge pronounced them husband and wife Larry told Edith to take a deep seat and hold on for the ride and what a ride it was. He brought her to “heaven on earth”, south of Lindsay, Montana.
Larry is survived by his wife Edith Truscott of Terry, MT; a sister Sharon Moore of Hico, TX; and a niece Shelly Sheffield of Fort Worth, TX.
