In loving memory of our beloved LaToya Lee Walking Eagle, 19, who went to be with the Lord of April 3, 2004 in Poplar, Montana.
She was born on October 10, 1984 in Poplar to John Lee Walking Eagle and Hattie (Shoots) Walking Eagle. LaToya lived most of her life in Brockton, but spent most of her time in Poplar visiting family and friends. LaToya loved her children Maireon Rees and Kaidon James. She enjoyed the times she got to spend with both of them. She also enjoyed being with her sisters and brothers, taking long walks with them. She liked listening to music and reading, she also was creative, doing a little bit of arts crafts for fun. LaToya had a beautiful smile that put a smile on someone elses face and loved to laugh and joke around. She was a kind and easy person to get along with and had a big heart that loved everyone around her and made everyone love her too. LaToya will be truly missed by all who were very close to her and knew her well, her family, relatives and friends.
LaToya is survived by her two children, Maireon Rees and Kaidon James Walking Eagle of Poplar, her mother Hattie Shoots Walking Eagle; four brothers, John Lee, Jr. (Farrell) Walking Eagle of Billings, Ronald, Elias (Christy) and Jeffery Walking Eagle, all of Poplar; eight sisters, Bernetta, Marian and Johnette Walking Eagle of Poplar, Jonelle Walking Eagle of Bismarck, ND, Kathy and Yolanda Walking Eagle of Billings, Desiree Johnson and Antoinette Eagle of CA; and grandmother Theresa Walking Eagle McKay, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jonathon (Johnson), Jacob, Baby Boy Walking Eagle; her father John Walking Eagle, Sr.; paternal grandparent Robert Lee Fox, maternal grandparents Jacob Shoots, Sr. and Marian (Left Hand Thunder) Shoots; two uncles Patrick McKay, Jr. and Virgil Shoots; three aunties, Rose Marie, Elvera and Angeline Shoots.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 8 at the Poplar Cultural Center beginning at 4 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9 at 10 a.m. at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Brockton.
