Our beloved sister, aunt, mom, loved one left us early Saturday morning, October 9, 2021 at her home in Busby on Sesame street to be with our loved ones that have gone to the other camp. Lil Lavon will be welcomed with loving arms from her parents Gertie and Joe Firecrow.
Lavon Janell Firecrow was born on June 1, 1978 in Hardin, Montana to Gertrude Lonebear Firecrow and Joseph Firecrow Sr. She was called Lil Lavon by family because we had a family member who had already the Lavonne name who was her cousin (Lavonne Scalpcane) She was the youngest of five sibilings. She grew up in Lame Deer and attended elementary and high school in Lame Deer, Montana.
Lavon was given her indian name by her grandmother Jean Lonebear. Lavon’s indian given name was Ma’eseeota’e (Red Medicine Woman) named after Nellie Tallbull Beartusk.
Uncle George Scalpcane gave her the nickname “DOLLAR” (she would always ask him for A DOLLAR).
Lavon had worked at Charging Horse Casino as bingo worker and later became child care worker for her nieces and nephews which she always called her “babies”. In her younger years, Lavon would tag along with her dad Joe when he did his piumbing jobs. She sure would crawl under the crawl space with him too. Even though she did not have children of her own, she considered Corey, Isaac, Lil Don, Carmen, Savanna, Rianna, Kingston, Micca, Julianna, and Sadie Shay as her own.
Lavon was a simple, humble, caring, kindhearted person, but sometimes stubborn (lol). Lavon was a die hard STEELERS fan, you could always find her in her STEELERS gear. She loved listening to her favorite music, MOTLEY CRUE, POISON, SKID ROW, LITA FORD, LINKIN PARK, EMINEN, GUNS and ROSES, OZZY OSBOURNE, TECH 9, oh, we can’t forget her indian pow-wow music too. Her favorites were Northern Cree, Nakoa, and of course, our Cheyenne singers. Oh yeah, she did love her country music too.
She is survived by her sisters, Roberta and Stella Ashley, Jonita (Sadie) Talawyma, Josephine and Alvina Firecow, her brothers Don Allen Lonebear Sr., and Ronald Firecrow. Her aunts Leah and Laura Lonebear, and all her her friends that she took as her brothers and sisters.
Lavon always had her motto, “I AM NOT HER FOR A LONG TIME, I AM HER FOR A GOOD TIME”.
Lil Lavon came from a large family. We are very, very sorry if we missed anyone at this time of grieving.
