In Memory Of

LaVonne Hoffer, age 80, of Fallon.

April 26, 1943 – February 23, 2024

LaVonne Iva Waldo Hoffer went to her heavenly home on February 23, 2024. She was born April 26, 1943 in Sidney, Montana, the oldest daughter of Wayne and Iva (Weagel) Waldo. When she was a year old the family moved to the Buffalo Rapids Irrigation Project outside of Fallon. She attended all twelve years of school in the Terry School system, graduating in 1961. Upon graduation, she attended Jamestown College and then Minot State College in Minot, North Dakota. LaVonne married Delbert Hoffer on August 29, 1964 in Glendive, Montana. The couple was blessed with three daughters and a son.

The family made their home on the farm southeast of Fallon and then later moved to LaVonne’s parents’ farm. LaVonne was a devoted and hard-working farm wife and loved caring for her bucket calves. She was an accomplished seamstress, making clothes for her children when they were young and then later wonderful quilts for her family members. She had a love for music, singing and playing piano in her earlier years.

LaVonne was a fabulous cook and baker, her pies and candy being her family’s favorites. She enjoyed gardening and spent numerous hours canning vegetables and making jelly that were often given as gifts. She also enjoyed playing pinochle and looked forward to Fridays when she worked in the office at the weekly livestock sale in Glendive, but her favorite sales were the local bull sales.

LaVonne had a gift of being able to talk to anyone she came in contact with, nobody was ever a stranger for very long. She treasured the time she got to spend with her family and never missed a chance to visit or attend a sporting event.

LaVonne was proceeded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law Dave and Linda Hoffer, brother Wade Waldo, brothers-in-law Lynn Haidle, Charles Moline and Roger Schmidt. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Delbert, daughters Kristi (Will) Hayes, Tina Roos, Teresa (Tom) Froehlich, son Ross (Kay) Hoffer, grandchildren Bryce Hayes, Brittany (Travis) Kiel, Matt Roos, Josh, Caden and Kooper Hoffer, Logan, Wesley and Colton Braddock and great-grandchildren Tavyn and Bryten Kiel and Ashtin and Mikkenna Kiel Sprandel, sister Bonnie Haidle, sisters-in-law Sandi Waldo, Darlene Moline, Diana Schmidt, Maridel Kassner, brother-in-law Lyle Kassner and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin Friday, March 1, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry with family receiving friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 221 South Center Ave, Miles City, Montana. Burial will follow at the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry followed by a luncheon at the Evelyn Cameron Heritage Center.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
