Lawrence L. Harrod

Visitation: in Sturgis will be Tuesday from 2pm- 6pm at the Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home and in Gillette on Wednesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral Services: will be 10:00AM, Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at the Historic Post Chapel at Ft Meade

Funeral Services: will be held on Thursday at 10:00AM at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette

Interment: to follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette with military honors

Funeral services for Lawrence L. Harrod, age 88, of Ft Meade formerly of Casper, WY will be 10:00AM, Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at the Historic Post Chapel at Ft Meade a second service will be held on Thursday at 10:00AM at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette with burial to follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette with military honors provided by American Legion Post #42 and Masonic rites provided by Masonic Lodge # 28. Visitation in Sturgis will be Tuesday from 2pm- 6pm at the Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home and in Gillette on Wednesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home.

Mr Harrod died on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Ft. Meade Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Sturgis.

Lawrence Harrod was born August 7, 1916 to parents Ed and Pearl Harrod at Rozet, WY. He was drafted into the Army on October 2, 1941 and participated in the Battle of Algeria, French Moracco, Sicly, and Naples Forgist. He received two purple hearts for wounds sustained on October 16, 1943 and November 14, 1943. He returned home September 12, 1945.

Lawrence Harrod was united in marriage to Bonnie Lamb on April 26, 1948 at Sheridan, WY. Lawrence retired from the Wyoming State Highway Department after 32 years of service. He was a member of the VFW, Lions, DAV, and Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Bonnie Lamb Harrod, parents, 2 infant daughters, a son and 3 brothers.

Grateful for having shared his life include his daughter Louise and her husband Del Hockley of Sturgis, son, Brian Harrod and his wife Debbie of Denver, brother Lonnie Harrod and his wife Willy of British Columbia, Canada, sister Irene Reed of Sheridan, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
