Lee Berry 80 of Lewistown a hard working cowboy, cattleman, farmer and truck driver who never let anything get in the way of getting a job done, passed away Sunday evening April 17th at his home with his wife by his side of natural causes.
He was born December 14, 1924 in Phon, MT the son of Leo A. and Beatrice (Fitzgerald) Berry. He received his schooling at Flat Creek School. He practiced a good sense of responsibility and fairness. Lee started at a very young age providing a living for not only his father and siblings, but for his new wife and children who seemed to arrive almost faster than he could make a living for them. On February 8, 1946, he was united in marriage to Rose Danniel in Miles City, MT one snowy day when they were supposedly going to get his car fixed. They then ranched at Landusky and herded cattle on the Missouri River for many happy years. In the 1960s they moved closer to Lewistown, ranching at Christina, where farming became a way of life, leading to learning how to become a crop insurance adjuster, which he totally enjoyed and learned with only an 8th grade education. He was still active in that line of work until Parkinson's disease took over his life. He was unable to drive and do the things necessary for the job, but still encouraged and supported his wife Rose in her retail Second Hand Store. He enjoyed meeting people and always had some of his buddies to go have coffee with and catch up on the latest.
A good husband, father and a wonderful friend to many. He was always proud of the four girls and was a good role model for them as well as his nephews and other youngsters.
Lee is survived by his wife Rose of Lewistown, daughters Sharyn (Garry) Wallace of Great Falls, MT, Judy Fossum and Connie (Roy) Milroy both of Lewistown, MT and Margie Berry of Billings, MT, sisters Mary Lou Davis and Marjorie Taylor both of Miles City, MT.
