Visitation: Tuesday, August 1, 2006 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus

Funeral Service: Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Powder River Congregational Church in Broadus

Interment: Valley View Cemetery

Leland Cook, age 88, of Broadus, Montana passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at his home in Broadus.

Leland was born April 5, 1918 in Miles City to H.R. and Ella Kant Cook.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Tana, one brother Milo, and a sister Margie.

Leland and Montana Tana Ames were married on October 3, 1936 at Deadwood, South Dakota. Leland and Tana spent 52 of their 60 years of marriage ranching in Powder River County. Though Leland was a city boy who ran the streets of Broadus (when there were only eleven buildings in the business district), his greatest aspiration as a boy was to ranch. He often lamented Breathes a man with a soul so dead, that wouldnt want a little spread that would run 100 head.

His survivors include his son Bob (Laraine) Cook of Pocatello, Idaho; his daughter Linda (Don) Nybakken of Nashua; his sister Ella Mae (Walter) Ferguson of Broadus; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Denver (Tammy) Fraser, Dax (Kim) Fraser, Dane Leland and Kodi;Mohria (Bill) Fawcett;Iyana; Brandon (Tahnee) Gatlin; Landry; and three step-grandchildren: Brian (Tayon)Nybakken, Jordon,Tahrynn; Greg (Kelli)Nybakken, Katelin,Hayley, Brianna; and Jana Nybakken.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Powder River Congregational Church in Broadus. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Valley View Cemetery.
