Interment: will follow in the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry with full military honors
Leo Gene Fischer, also known as Catfish King, age 67, of Mesquite, Nevada passed away on Monday, December 3, 2007 at the Dixie Regional Medical Center in Saint George, Utah.
Leo was born on March 20, 1940, in Long Lake, South Dakota, the son of August and Anna (Ulrich) Fischer. He was raised and attended school in Fallon, Montana. In 1960, he enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. After his discharge, he spent most of his life working on various farms and ranches in Montana. He was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt. He also enjoyed walking along the river bank looking for agates, planting gardens and making sausage and jerky. He loved visitors and if you paid him a visit, you werent leaving until you played a game of cribbage. He loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren and had nicknames for all of them. If you knew him, you might have one too. TRUE!
Leo is survived by his wife of 9 years, Kathy; two daughters: Juanita and her husband Dan and Jodi and her husband Casey; two grandchildren: Tyler (Peanuts) and Abi (Split Pea) all of Fairfield, MT; three brothers: Garfield (Jeanette) of Terry, MT; Calvin (Eldora) of Fairfield, Montana, Adolph (Patty) of Fallon, Montana; two sisters: Delores Hjorth of Gillette, Wyoming and Arvilla Fischer of Miles City, MT; mother Anna of Terry, Montana and several nieces and nephews; his best friend Snuffers; stepchildren: Jamie (Shelly) Horning of Rolla, North Dakota, Andrew (Marie) Horning of Lincoln, North Dakota, Michelle (Dale) Erickson of Omaha, Arkansas and four step-grandsons and three step-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Melvin.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 7, 2007 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hope Lutheran Church in Fallon. Interment will follow in the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry with full military honors. Condolences may be made to the family by visitingwww.stevnesonandsons.com.
