Leroy Hyatt

Leroy Norris Hyatt, age 76, of Broadus passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Powder River Manor in Broadus.

Leroy was born on February 25, 1935 in Hugo, Oklahoma, the son of Will and Monta (Cochran) Hyatt. He grew up and attended schools in Grant, Oklahoma, graduating from high school in 1954. He joined the Air Force and relocated to Miles City. Following his discharge, Leroy married Rena Lathrop on June 9, 1956 in Miles City and to this union two children were born, Jodi and Jeff. He worked at a local parts store in Miles City before going to work for Lohman Motors. Leroy and Rena later divorced and he moved to Broadus, Montana where he opened Hyatt Chevrolet which he ran until 1985. Leroy then married Marianne (Cooley) Hagedorn on August 12, 1983 in North Carolina. They made their home in Broadus where he worked at a variety of jobs from working as a bus driver to being a sheep rancher.

Leroy enjoyed golf, horse racing, hunting, and watching basketball games. He absolutely loved his time as a bus driver, and enjoyed guiding for Powder River Outfitters. He enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his granddaughters, Ashlee and Kortnee. He continued to follow all of his bus kids sports and interests.

Leroy is survived by his wife Marianne Hyatt of Broadus, MT; his children: Jeff (Val) Hyatt of Miles City, MT and Jodi Hyatt of Miles City, MT; a step-daughter, Emily (Matt) Hagedorn-Wegher of Victor, ID; a brother, Albert Hyatt of Boswell, OK; ten half sisters and brothers; and two granddaughters: Ashlee and Kortnee Hyatt.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
