Lewis Turner, age 77, of Miles City passed away Monday, March 21st, 2011 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care.
Lew was born on January 3rd, 1934 in Lawton, Michigan to Leonard and Marion Turner. He grew up and attended schools in Michigan, until he began working for Michigan Winery and Sherburn Farms in Michigan. He moved to Montana thirty-six years ago, and worked for Roundup, Powder, and Custer County Road Department. He retired in 1994. He also worked for Fred Wacker at Cross 4 Ranch and was a caretaker at the Eastern Montana Fairground and at Matthews Park. Lew loved fishing, camping, and riding his four-wheeler (with his cap on backwards), and spending time with friends, family, and his dogs, Dotti, Amos, and Sassy.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Miles City; children, Buster (Martha), Ren (Ann), Steve (Laura), Lois Ann (Mike), all of Michigan; sisters Molly Coombs and Nancy Turner Norman (Jean), both of Michigan; step-children Kevin Turner, Stacy Farmer (Ryan), Curt Turner, all of Bozeman, Montana, and Darcy (Kurt) Christopherson of Miles City. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lew was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son, and his two dogs, Dottie and Amos.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 with family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Burial will be in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home.
