In Memory Of

Lila Mellville

Visitation: Monday, February 11, 2008 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.

Funeral service: Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment: will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery.

Lila Gloria Arnoldt Mellville, age 85, of Miles City passed away on February 7, 2008 at the Holy Rosary Health Care in Miles City.

Lila was born on February 11, 1922 in Miles City, MT to Edward and Bertha (Bigras) Lewis. She was raised in the Miles City area with her brother Larry. When she was 17 she went to Carroll Beauty School in Butte, MT. Lila came back home and married Albert Moose A. Arnoldt on March 7, 1942 in Terry, MT. To this union three sons were born; Butch, Eddie and Albert. After Moose passed away, Lila and Harry Speed A. Melville were married on May 5, 1971 in Cody, WY. Just shy of her 50th birthday, Lila went back to school to get her GED on January 28, 1972. Lila sold Fuller Brush Products for 4 years, worked at KOA Campground for Cherri Porton for 3 years and helped speed run Speeds Electric for 10 years.

Lila and Speed were active in the fiddlers and went to many places in southeastern Montana to play and dance. She was also a member of the Loyal Star, Island Reunion Director and Organizer in 1993 and 1995. She liked to go fishing with her two poodles Pete and Fifi in Red Lodge where they lived one summer. Lila enjoyed going on trips in their little motor home. Lila loved her boys and grandkids and great-grandkids very much. She also liked animals and loved to feed the rabbits around her home

Lila is survived by her three sons; Arthur Butch (Marilynn) Arnoldt of Miles City, MT, Lawrence Eddie Arnoldt of Miles City, MT and Albert Arnoldt of Gillette, WY, five grandchildren; Chad (DJ), Bart (Patty), Joyce, Alvin and Leon and five great-grandchildren; Orrin, Dal, Mariah, Cody and Dustin.

Lila is preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Edward Lewis, Bertha Fransen and Chris Fransen, her husband's Albert (1966) and Harry (2001) and her brother Lawrence Larry Lewis.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 11, 2008 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery.
