Lillian Corneliusen, age 89, of Terry, MT passed away at the Prairie Community Health Center in Terry, MT on February 28, 2019.
Lillian was born on March 18, 1929 in Dunseith, ND, the daughter of St. Pierre and Mary (Gladeau) DeCoteau and the youngest of sixteen children. Lillian grew up in Poplar, MT and at the age of one her mother passed away. She attended grade school in Poplar until the age of fifteen when her father passed away. It was after her father’s passing Lillian moved to Terry, MT to live with her sister where she helped babysitting children. On February 28, 1952 Lillian married the love of her life Selmer “Sweed” Cornielusen. To this union they had four children, Robin Lee, James David, Jerry Lynn and Nancy. Together they raised their children in Terry and were married for 49 years until Selmer passed away on May 4, 2001. Lillian remained in Terry where she enjoyed volunteering for the Senior Companion Program, something she did for 14 years.
Lillian was an avid supporter of the Terry High School sports and would often be seen at almost all of the athletic activities. A recent special time for Lillian was when the Terry boys basketball team stopped by the Prairie Community Health Center before going to a game and came into her room to see her. She was very flattered that all these boys would come to see her. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Lillian is survived by her children; Robin Corneliusen, James David “Big Jim” Corneliusen, Jerry “J.C.”. Corneliusen, Nancy (Gene) Hafla, Dennis Corneliusen and Marilyn Corneliusen; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and a very special cat “Cuddles”. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Selmer “Sweed”, infant baby boy, Royal and 15 brothers and sisters.
