Lilly Chisholm Johnston was born in Jordan, Montana on April 23, 1950 to Duncan Chisholm and Gertrude Wille Chisholm. Lilly was the youngest of three sisters, behind Mary Ann Graham and Barbara Chisholm. Jordan was Lilly’s home and forever place, she loved Jordan. While living in this small town she met Jerry Johnston, who was an electrician working in the area. After dating for a while they decided to get married and start a family. Lilly was not able to conceive a child so they adopted. After a lot of paperwork and a Hundred dollar bill, in the year 1977 they were finally united with their first son, Jeremy Joe. Not too long after that Jerry and Lilly adopted another son, Barry Allen. They were their pride and joy.
Lilly went to college to become a Registered Nurse. This had always been her dream and desire from a young age, following the aunt she was named after. Lilly loved her job and was a very hard worker. She always wanted the job done right. We always thought that if she ever was placed in the Jordan nursing home that she would end up running it. She would always tell stories about her old people. She absolutely loved taking care of them.
Lilly was not much of a traveler although she would go places with her husband Jerry and the kids. As she got older she was more of a homebody. Jerry and Lilly loved their cabin at Hell Creek Recreation Area, and they enjoyed spending time down there with family and friends.
After her husband passed away in 2016, her boys felt that she could no longer live alone because she had suffered many little strokes that took a toll on her memory. The last 4 years of her life she spent in Salt Lake City, Utah with her oldest son Jeremy and his family. Lilly was also known for her love of cheeseburgers and diet Dr. Pepper, so living in a big city had its perks. One burger for her and one for her dog, Mac. Yes, on somewhat of a regular basis.
She will leave a large void in their lives and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father and mother Duncan and Gertrude, sister Mary Ann, her sister Barbara and her husband Jerry. She leaves behind her sons Jeremy (Heidi) Johnston, Barry (Amanda) Johnston, four grandkids and three great grandkids, along with many friends that are considered family.

So very sad to hear about Lilly, one of my very best friends throughout our school years. We had some great times together and shared lots of fond memories. Condolences to all of Lilly’s family. I will never forget Lilly. She was special. Lilly introduced me to tacos our junior year in high school. I love tacos and, to this day, every time I have one, i think of her. ❤️

My condolences to Lily’s family and friends. She and Jerry were great neighbors to us for many years. She was a spit fire, getting anything and everything done , and done right. I worked some night shifts with her and she taught me well. Always pitching in. Even with the “grunt” or whtwork that she happily helped with. Even if she didn’t agree with how I did something, she would try to support me. I respected that. I know this has been a long road of loss for the boys and their families and I wish them peace and comfort.

Lilly was a wonderful nurse and fabulous caring soul. She was part of my childhood growing up in hospital. She worked nights and was always calm and concerned about all the patients. She also tried to keep the nursing staff in check with her feisty wit. My thoughts and prayers are with her boys and their families. Lilly was such a wonderful caregiver to all.
