September 17, 1986 was a glorious day for the Ron and Noreen Harris family when they welcomed their third and youngest child, Lindsay James Harris into the world.
From day one “LJ” as he was affectionately known was the light of mom and dad’s life and “baby” to older sisters, Renecia and Rebecca.
Born of both Northern and Southern Cheyenne descent, Lindsay was introduced to his culture at a very young age. He loved pow-wows and grass dancing was a passion. He was brought up to honor, love and respect our Cheyenne ceremonial ways, customs, and traditions. During his mothers’ illness, Lindsay vowed to dance the Bald Eagle Paint in our Cheyenne sundance ceremonies, if Meheo would spare his mothers’ life. He prided himself and held in high esteem the fact that he was born a Chiefchild with lineage to four honored Chieftainships beginning with Chief Littlewolf whom through his sacrifice, commitment and love for his people successfully led our Northern Cheyenne to our home of today. His grandfathers, Chief Frank Redcherries, Chief Rock Redcherries and Chief Bullcoming of Oklahoma.
Lindsay was multi-talented and of his many God-given gifts he was a champion grassdancer, sketch artist, grassdance outfit designer, maker, beadwork artist who did beadwork for himself, his dad, nieces, and nephews. He spread his love for everyone using his wit and humor which never failed to bring a smile and laughter to all who knew him. He was our comedian. He was never afraid to exhibit compassion, concern and pity for those less fortunate and forever wanted to be a friend to all and was always willing to give people his time, a shoulder to lean on, or his last dollar or dime to all who asked.
Never once did he ever pass judgment on anyone and never looked down on people because of the way they lived and its these are personality characters that he shared with his grandfather Gilbert Harris a very gentle soul and didn’t want to inconvenience or burden anyone with his own problems. He was proud of mom and dad’s marriage longevity and wore a tattoo on his arm that read, “Ron and Norene Harris.”
On March 8, 2019, Lindsay succumbed to pneumonia at the young age of 32 in Lame Deer, Montana.

My dear baby brother, I miss you so much and think about you everyday. Life has changed without you. I miss your crazy jokes and all the fun and crazy times we shared. You will forever be in my heart. The kids mention you all the time and it breaks my heart because you were always a great uncle. I know people are haters and only hate on people they are jealous of. You went through a lot in this life with losing your kids and losing so many people you loved. Nobody understood what you were going through. I wish I could have held you that night you were suffering. Your big sister loves and will forever cherish the memories of you. Love you L
