Funeral Service: Thursday, March 20th at 11:00am at the Grace Bible Church in Forsyth.
Lois Giles Gookin, age 74 of Forsyth passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at the Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth.
Lois was born November 5, 1933 the daughter of Charles and Alice (Morton) Giles in Pitt, Minnesota. Her mother passed away when she was young therefore she went to live with Harvey and Velma Giles in Black Duck, Minnesota. She attended school and graduated high school in Black Duck. After graduation she worked in Minneapolis and moved to Columbia Falls, MT. During this time she met Dallas Gookin and on April 6, 1957 they were united in marriage in Columbia Falls. To this union four children were born and raised in Columbia Falls. Lois and Dallas moved to Colstrip in 1974 and later to Forsyth in 1988.
She was an active member of the Grace Bible Church in Forsyth. Lois was an accomplished bowler which included being a Montana State Champion. She enjoyed playing cards, growing African violets and also enjoyed making home made pies. Lois was a devoted friend as well as a great listener. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Dallas of Forsyth; her children, Marc (Lorie) Gookin of Hillsboro, OR, Matt (Dyan) Gookin of Corona, CA, Dan (Sharron) Gookin of Vancouver, WA and Dalene (Larry) Cornelia of Circle, MT; her sister Jan (Jack) Von Lindern of Columbia Falls, MT. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and several family members.
