LOIS JEAN (CORY) LEE
Lois Lee was born March 25, 1955, in Miles City, Montana, the youngest child of Frank Lee and Josephine June (Quinlan) Cory. She grew up and attended school in Miles City, graduating from Custer County High School in 1973.
After graduation, Lois worked at restaurants in Miles City and Livingston. She began dating Garth Lee her senior year of high school and after graduation, while horseback riding on the Lee Ranch, Garth popped the question and she said ‘yes.’
They were married on October 12, 1974, at the Episcopal Church in Forsyth. Garth worked with his father on the Lee Ranch on Reservation Creek from 1970 to 1975.
They worked for several ranches until Garth accepted the position as manager of the DH Ranch near Hamilton, Montana, from 1988 – 2006. While living near Hamilton, Lois worked at SSP and Glaxo Smith and Kline pharmaceuticals. During these years Lois enjoyed training their Australian Shepherd dog in agility competition. She and Garth traveled throughout western Montana to many competitions and were very proud of how Dakota performed, winning many competitions and awards.
Bluegrass music was something Lois really loved to be involved with. She played the guitar, banjo and was pursuing the fiddle. She played and sang with various groups around Hamilton and every year for four or five years at the Bluegrass Festival in Hamilton and at Bannack Days in Bannack, Montana.
Lois and Garth lived at Park City for seven years where she worked at Montana Silversmiths and Garth managed the Diamond A feedlot. After retiring they moved to their property on Slaughterhouse Creek near Forsyth and began to build their new log home.
Lois loved to be a homemaker. She loved her kitties, garden, and bluegrass gospel music. She and her sister, Linda ‘Lin’, sang in churches and small community programs growing up. After Lois came back to the eastern part of the state, they once again began singing together and formed a small group called Bittersweet. One of the highlights of this time was singing at the Bluegrass Festival in Miles City.
Lois and her sister Linda ‘Lin’ were very close and loved just being together whether gardening, going to church, or hiking. One of the hiking highlights was going from Cooke City to East Rosebud, a 25-mile hike, with brother Frank and his wife, Helen and daughters. She also loved horseback riding and trail riding and did as much as time allowed. The couple camped on the Boulder River where they joined many family reunions. Lois and Garth loved the ranch life working side by side doing whatever needed to be done.
Lois was a loving, sweet lady. She especially loved the Lord Jesus Christ. She loved her husband and family so very much. We all miss her but know she is in heaven with Jesus with no more pain. We look forward to the day when we will all be together with our Lord and Savior in Paradise forever.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Josephine Cory; her
brother, Donald Ray Cory, and nephew, Samuel Cory.
She is survived by her husband, Garth Lee, of Forsyth; brother Frank (Helen) Cory of Park City; her sister, Linda ‘Lin’ Cory Koerper of Rosebud; many aunts and uncles, in-laws, nieces and nephews, and cousins who were dear to Lois.

Garth I’m so sorry to hear that Lois has passed. I have fond memories of our high school days in Miles City. She was a good friend so thoughtful and kind. She loved driving the Barracuda. Lois or Lowie as I called her was a dear sister and best friend and I miss her oh so very much and will always until we can be in Heaven together. She made my life richer and blessed and we had a very very special relationship that I will always be grateful for. I will miss being beside her singing gospel bluegrass and 60’s rock, gardening, hiking, and much more. She was so fun to be with and especially her walk with Christ was so real and we loved to talk about and learn about the Lord Jesus Christ. Looking forward to that blessed day of reunion with our Lord.✝️💜

My heart sank when a couple of people sent me this notice! My best friend in school, from before 1st grade until a year after graduation. I could tell lots of fun stories of growing up together, and lots of them included you, Lynda! I left for college, and she married Garth. We loved his car! She loved Garth! My heartfelt sympathies to all of her family! I would love to give you all a big hug!

Dear Garth, our friend, This world would be a much brighter place if there were more beautiful people like Lois. We want to rejoice with the The Lord Jesus and the angels in Heaven as they welcome her home—but, right now we can only weep with you that she is no longer with us here. Our words on this page are not adequate enough to describe the loss of someone who truly radiated the love, compassion, and mercy of The Lord Jesus. Thank You Lord Jesus for allowing us to be deeply encouraged by her example. Not even in her great suffering did she stop praising You Lord Jesus! She endured so much pain, but did not stop serving You Lord! We thank You Lord Jesus for sharing your precious Lois with us. We ask You Lord to please comfort and strengthen and encourage her husband Garth, and everyone who will miss her so much. Please help us Lord Jesus to shine for You as brightly, and beautifully as Lois did.
Suzanne Cory says
My dear cousin, life has not been long enough to accomplish the hopes and plans for this earthly life. You lived with grace, obedience and victory! We have been blessed while here. Soon, we will meet again on the other side. You have been the best cousin anyone could ask for.
Love you forever.

Hello Garth ,
I was blessed to meet Lois. She was a sweet woman. She was
an outstanding witness for Christ. She and I had conversations that included her requests for prayer and mine. So I think you could say we were prayer partners. That was precious to me.
I know she appreciated the prayers and support of many.
We know from scriptures that all things work together for good. You were called to a better place.
Cheryl Faranda says

Another of our classmates gone too soon! My prayers are with the family at this time and in the days ahead. Although I had not seen Lois in years, I remember her as a sweet caring girl. May God bless you with cherished memories.
Larry Lee says
I remember going to Garth and Lois’s home here in Hamilton, MT. I would bring my 4 little kids all dressed up for Halloween. My kids were 1-5 years old at the time so it was a lot of commotion with them having all the sugar for the day. Garth and Lois would give us a lot of Grace on it.
May the Lord Jesus give you comfort in this time Garth. Really only what we do for Christ matters for all eternity. Keep your eyes on him.
In Christ,
Larry Lee

Dearest Garth, Lindsey let me know… I am so sad to hear of Lois passing away. I have the best memories of her, such a kind and caring person. I remember all our horseback camping trips and Lois rolling out every morning looking as fresh and clean as a spring morning… and me rolling out looking like I had been drug through the mud, disheveled and dirty! I was always amazed at the difference with the same exact experience!’
She will certainly be missed and I know she will be waiting for you.
Love, Sherry

Dear Garth,
The Thanksgiving, probably year 2000, that I spent with your family in MT and meeting everyone was a very wonderful memory for me. Though I hadn’t known any of my cousins, being the youngest of eight, all of you Lees welcomed me, Brian, and our little Victoria as though we had known you forever. I wish I would have had more time with your side of the Lee family. I keep in touch with Cheryl, a wonderful cousin and person. I am so saddened to hear about Lois. I know that 50 years is a long time to bond with someone. You are in our thoughts and prayers. May Christ comfort you at this time knowing you and Lois will be together again. Love, Cousin Laurie
Lonnie Murphy says
Our thoughts and prayers for peace and comfort are with Garth, Linda, Frank & all the extended family. Lois was amazingly talented and shared those talents with many. We were blessed to have Lois & Linda sing at my mom’s memorial service just a few years ago & I know the residents at assisted living in Forsyth really appreciated the special music provided to them every time they visited. God is great & mighty. By His grace & mercy-through Jesus Christ as our savior, we too can experience the joy that Lois is now experiencing in Heaven with Him. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for that amazing gift.
Ellen Coker says
Dear Garth,
The sure & certain hope of Heaven & the presence of Jesus is what allows us to rejoice that Lois has gone on. All the loss & grief is on this side. I’m praying for you & your family as you walk these days of sadness.
Bella Gulden says
