In Memory Of

Lola Janae Powell-Pickett age 12 of Lame Deer, MT

June 24, 2005 – May 14, 2018

Lola Janae Powell-Pickett, Ve’kesoxhaahketa (Little Bird), was welcomed into heaven by our loving savior Jesus Christ on Monday May 14, 2018 at the age of 12 years old.  Lola was honored to carry her mother’s Indian name. Lola’s work on this earth is complete and has won the victory in Jesus Christ.

Lola was born June 24, 2005 to Dari Fraser and Samuel Powell Pickett Jr. at Crow Agency Montana.   Lola spent her years loving life and always had a special smile along with her heart of gold.

Lola attended Lame Deer Elementary School from kindergarten until 5th grade. In the 6th grade she attended school at Pretty Eagle Catholic Academy in St. Xavier, MT, and then went on to attend her current school at Northern Cheyenne Tribal School.  Lola was active in both Jr. High Volleyball, Basketball and Track.

Lola enjoyed listening to music and loved to sing. One of her favorite country Christian music songs is “I saw the light,” by Johnny Cash. She and her grandpa Lloyd would sing this song very loud together, when traveling. Food was one of her favorite past times and she loved her mother’s cooking.   She would practice her special art with makeup whenever she had a chance. Lola was world-famous for her hugs; she never hesitated to show love and expressed it by hugging. Lola was very non- judgmental and absolutely loved everyone young and old alike.

Lola lived a short life but had an impact on so many people in the family and community.  She showed respect for everyone, always had a plan in place and was willing to try new things.  Most days Lola enjoyed hanging out with her friends and family, taking trips to Billings with her grandpa Jay, hitting up her Grandma Alda’s garage sales, spending weekends and summers with her grandfolks Lloyd and Elvenia in Crow Agency, and especially enjoyed watching scary movies with Grandma TT.

Lola is survived by her parents Dari Fraser (Terence) and Sam Pickett Jr (Patricia); sisters, Lillian Joy, Samantha, and Sheila Pickett, and brother Jacobi Fraser; step siblings, Eugene Spotted Horse, Maria Spotted Horse, and Kevin Whiteman; her Maternal Grandparents Jay Fraser, Davetta Archambeau, Dixie Garfield, Yolanda Fraser, Perry Fraser, Jerry Fraser, Emily Fraser, and Latisha Gibson; her Great-grandparents, Clinton & Jackie Small, Juanita Lonebear, Lloyd(Elvenia) Pickett, Geraldine Fisher, Deloris White Crow, Donna Paul, Amanda Dillard; her special cousins, Kymani Fraser, Houston Fraser, Sadie Jones, Lalisieonna Whiteman, Asani Sanchez, Aiyanna Bradley, Elairah Bradley, Leah Bradley, Alden Bradley Jr., Lyric Lopez, Kessley Takes Enemy, Coy, Chase Brown, Russell Ware, Kai Sangrey, Austin Little Wolf, Bethany and Kara Sierra.

I may not have known you, but I get the gist of your sweet spirit through others comments of you. So very young, you barely tasted of life. You were truly sent to be an amazing blessing to everyone. Freely giving hugs and sharing your beautiful bubbly personality. Jesus greatly loves you and He loves your family too. He’ll be with them here on earth to comfort them. You’ll be with Jesus now and dancing in Heaven. Live in glory, little Angel, your family and friends will be with you again someday. Prayers for everyone.

    May 17, 2018 at 7:24 am

We are all connected through beautiful, special people and although we did not spend a lot of time together those family ties connect to you. When we lose a special young lady like you our hearts ache because of an unfinished life and because of your Daddy and Mama. Jay, dear cousin/brother I am so sorry for this unfair nightmare you have to live through. But look to the future because you will have the opportunity to see her fulfill her dreams …..and go on forever. Our heavenly Father loves us all dearly and because of that a better life is coming. Revelation 21:3,4 tells of a time when there is no more death, sorrow or tears. And Bible prophecy shows it is coming soon. Love all of you who loved her.

I love you and miss you Lola. It sucks knowing the person who gave the best memory is now a memory. But, my memory of you will not be a memory, but a precious treasure. I will never forget you. It’s hard to forget someone who gave so much to remember. I wish I could get a hug from you, laugh, run, play ball, talk, and just see you again. Also do our handshake that we had so much struggle to make. You were like a sister to me. I already knew we had that special bond with each other. Fly High Lola Janae❤?Love you Daddy Long Legs.
