Loraine Elizabeth Wohlgenant, 92, passed away July 24, 2014 at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, Montana.
She was born In Miles City on June 8, 1922 to Lawrence and Mildred Wohlgenant. She attended school in her early years in a one room schoolhouse in the Pine Hills. Loraine graduated from Custer County High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Washington State University. She furthered her education by completing her Master’s in Nursing from UCLA. Loraine worked in nursing throughout the Northwest and also in Chicago and New York City. Later in life Loraine returned to Miles City, where she lived at the family home and served as a caregiver for her parents and her twin sister Eileen.
Loraine enjoyed gardening and continued doing her own yard work into her 90’s. She had a sharp mind, always reading a variety of literature and keeping up with current events through her newspapers. She loved the challenge of playing card games with family and friends, more often than not winning the games by bidding high and following through with gutsy plays. Loraine enjoyed life and maintained a spotless house until she was hospitalized in the last months.
Loraine was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Mildred, and her sisters Phyllis Griffith, Eileen Wohlgenant and Kay Newlin. She is survived by her sisters Mona Reiner (Doug) of Keller, Texas and Joane Griffith of Helena, MT and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be held in the Custer County Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

My sincere condolences to the family of Loraine Elizabeth Wohlgenant – It was never the Creator’s purpose for mankind to suffer (Romans 5:12). May God give you peace through his promise to comfort us (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4). We are promised a time when no one will say “I am sick” (Isaiah 33:24). Cherish all the happy memories and I hope that you are consoled by Bible assurances of a hopeful future (John 17:3).

Our sincere sympathy to all of Loraine’s family. My dad and Mildred were cousins, I believe. I have fond memories of visits to Mildred and Lawrence’s. Prayers for all of you.
