In the early morning of June 2, 2025, Loren Voightman (Woodbutch) passed away at Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City comforted by his wife.
Loren was born August 9, 1954 in Ellendale, North Dakota to Lynn & Ruby (Tosh) Voightman of Ludden, North Dakota. Loren grew up on the family farm with his brother Steve and sister Loretta. Loren went to work building homes (that’s where the Woodbutch nickname began) farming with his dad and he custom harvested and did over the road trucking for many years with his brother. He also took time to raise a “little” hell. Loren married the love of his life Laura Schmitz on November 25, 1989. Loren continued farming and custom harvesting till 1996 when they moved to Baker, Montana. Loren worked in the oilfield hauling crude oil. After working in the oilfield, he built feedlots, and did custom farming and haying in Eastern Montana. They purchased their home in Miles City in 2009.
He loved his fast cars, motorcycles and pickup pulls. He also enjoyed hunting prairie dogs, fishing and everything else involved in the great outdoors. He loved a beautiful sunset, crops a plenty and rain, and listening to his “Music.” Loren touched many along his journey of life. Loren can now sit back and drink beer (Old Mil that is), eat his plain M & M’s and Snicker bars.
Loren is survived by his wife, soulmate and best friend Laura; his brother Steve Voightman and his wife Elsie; his sister Loretta Presler; father-in-law Grant Schmitz; his brothers-in-law: Sharon (Kevin) Young, Pam (Jay) Rhodefer, Kevin (Mari) Schmitz, Scott (Tracey) Schmitz and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his adopted family Terry and Mindy Hoenke and their 3 C’s whom called them “POPS” and “GMA” and so many great friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Lynn & Ruby Voightman, mother-in-law Verna, a brother-in-law Merle Presler and two nephews: Blaine and Kolden.
