Loretta Mae (Cox) Adams, age 72, of Poplar, Montana, passed away Friday, June 1, 2007 at Poplar Hospital.
Loretta was born to Joseph Cox and Julia Grandchamp on March 18, 1935 in Poplar. She attended Poplar schools up to 9th, graduated from Flandrau Boarding School in SD. She worked at a dry cleaners in Glasgow, MT then attended Cosmetology School in Ft. Worth, TX.During her three marriages Loretta lived in Chicago, IL, Marion OH, Billings MT, Tampa FL, Washington D.C., North Carolina and Scottsdale AZ. Her travels included Europe during 1980-1985 while her youngest daughter, Carmen and husband J.R. Greer were stationed there. Loretta returned to Poplar in 1995 after being gone for 30 years. She was a good student learning computers in 1997-1999 and attended Fort Peck Community College for General Studies. Loretta loved to go to pow wows, sewing quilts, knitting, crocheting, a making all kinds of crafts and baked goods for the Saturday Flea Market and did volunteer work for her church and community. She was always baking something when you stopped by to visit.
Loretta Adams is survived by a son, Marlon (Gaye) Red Elk of Poplar, daughters Kim (Guy) Adams of Cincinnati, OH and Carmen (J.R.) Greer of Kathleen, GA; her sister Yvonne Tillie Hopkins, brother Nelson Cox, sister Darlene Clough all of Glasgow and a brother Edwin (Marilyn) Cox of Manhattan, MT; aunt Rose Grandchamp of Frazer; 10 grandchildren, 1 great grand-daughter and numerous nieces and nephews in Frazer, Wolf Point and Poplar. Many friends will miss her especially her Combs Apartments Family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julia and Joseph Cox, three brothers, Alvin, Melvin and Donald Cox and one sister, Lenora Cox Red Elk.
Services for Loretta Mae Cox Adams will be at Lindsay Memorial Presbyterian Church in Poplar. Visitation will be Sunday, June 10 from 4- 10 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Enright Bighorn officiating. Interment will be at Frazer Cemetery.
