Interment: will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City
Loretta Fay Schafer, age 63, ofMiles City passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.
Loretta was born in Plevna, Montana on June 16, 1941, the daughter of Jacob and Emma (Folmer)Opp. She attended schools in Plevna until her senior year when her family moved to Miles City where she graduated from Custer County High School. Following high school, she married Albert Schafer on April 10, 1960. Loretta and Albert made their home in Miles City where they raised their children. Loretta and Albert delivered the Miles City Star for over twenty years, retiring in November of 2002.
Loretta was an active member of the First Baptist Church for 47 years. She enjoyed her grandchildren, watching TV, crocheting, and most of all spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed attending church activities.
Loretta is survived by her son, Rodney Schafer and his wife Andrea and their children Caterra and Dannae, all of Glendive, MT; her daughter, Veronica VanDerWerff and her husband Kevin and their children April and Brian all of Miller, SD; a brother, RubenOpp and his wife June of Miles City and several nieces and nephews.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; a daughter, Rosalie; two brothers: Emil and Richard Opp; and one sister, Martha Sieler.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 14, 2005 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City.
