Interment: will follow at the Eastern Montana Veterans Cemetery in Miles City.
Loretta Mae Meckle, age 72, of Miles City passed away at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City on Saturday, June 26, 2004 surrounded by her family.
Loretta was born on May 22, 1932 in McClusky, North Dakota to Henry and Martha (Hoffer) Stein. She was raised in McClusky where she attended country schools. Loretta and Rueben Slim Meckle were married on July 2, 1950 at the family farm in McClusky, North Dakota. Following their marriage, Slim and Loretta moved to Havre, MT, Malta and then to Minot, North Dakota where they resided for 15 years. In 1973, they moved from Minot, North Dakota to Miles City, Montana where they have made their home since.
After Slim's retirement, they became worldwide travelers, on the road visiting their family and friends. Loretta enjoyed baking, cooking, canning, gardening, and most of all enjoyed and loved her family especially her grandchildren. Loretta was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Miles City.
Loretta is survived by her husband of 53 years, Slim Meckle of Miles City, MT, her son Russ and his wife Tami of Miles City, MT, her daughter Julie and her husband Larry Coder of Miles City, a step-daughter Rose Duez of Las Vegas, NV, three brothers; Roger Stein of Napoleon, ND, Wesley Stein of McClusky, ND, Hienie Stein of McClusky, ND, 6 sisters; Shirley of Minot, ND, Darlene of Minot, ND, Pat of Minot, ND, Diane of Goodrich, ND, Marlene of Havey, ND, Virginia of McClusky, ND, 7 grandchildren: Russ, Teauna, Tina, Glen, Bernadette, Michelle and Nicole, thirteen great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; Henry & Martha, her daughter Bonnie in 1995 and her brother Clarence. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2004 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 28, 2004 at 2:00 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City. Internment will follow at the Eastern Montana Veterans Cemetery in Miles City.
