Loriene B Murnion age 92 of Jordan Montana passed away Feb 19,2013 in her dear little house in Jordan Montana.
Loriene was born April 12, 1920 in Jordan Montana to Wilton Hale (Fuzzy) Buffington and Opal Murl Kester. She began her 1st grade at the Hell Creek Country School that still stands today. She often recalled the kindness of the Kerr girls (Jean, Ann and Gert) whom she and her sister Edith boarded with while attending grade school in Jordan. In 1939, Loriene graduated from high school in Bozeman, Montana. Growing up she was her father’s right hand man and often told of herding cows on horseback during a snow storm from Jordan to Miles City in the 1930’s. On October 6, 1943 she and Barnard Murnion were married. Home was a sheep wagon for the first year of their married life after which Barney purchased the Red John place which is on Lone tree northeast of Jordan. They traded this ranch for land on Vail Creek where they remained and raised their family until the winter of 2008 she moved to Jordan due to Barnard’s failing health. Loriene was a special mother and friend. The coffee pot was always on and both young and old were welcome in her home. She was never one to complain and always strived to find the positive in any situation.
She had the unique ability to make any flower or plant thrive both indoors and out. Loriene enjoyed raising peacocks and many a child would go home with one of their beautiful feathers as a memento from a visit to her home. She loved history and she was known as a go to person for anyone wanting to know about history of Garfield County. In recent time she enjoyed going every Thursday to the Garfield County Health center where friends and neighbors would gather to play old time music.
Loriene was preceded in death by her parents, husband J Barnard (Barney) in 2010, infant sister, Edith Curdy, ½ brother Myron Barnes, Brother Bob Buffington, two grandson’s Luke Murnion, Kent Whiteside and great grandson Trent Schreiber. She is survived by her children, John (Pat) Murnion of Jordan, Willie (Linda) Murnion of Billings, Terry (Deanna) Murnion of Jordan, Kay Rene (Jim) Whiteside of Angela, Pat (Cathy) Murnion of Jordan, Rex (Lori) Murnion of Roy, brother Kester Buffington of Bonnie Lake Washington, twenty one grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren.

Dear Loriene’s family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have such fond memories of your mom (grandma). My mom Dorothy Rath thought the world of her and spoke of her often, and considered her a good friend. I will always remember what Loriene did at Halloween when I was a kid anyway. Because you lived out of town she would come and sit on main street of Jordan with her vehicle and hand out candy from there while Rex and Pat would go trick or treating. She would tell my mom to make sure that I stopped there to trick or treat. I thought that was so sweet. I am sure that you have tons of great memories but I just wanted to share one of mine. I won’t be able to attend her service but please know that I will be thinking of all of you as you say goodbye to her. God Bless each of you as you go through this difficult time.
Hugs and Prayers to all of you,
Diane

Dear Family and Friends of Loriene Murnion, even though I did not personally know Mrs. Murnion, the loss of every human life is significant to me and should be valued by all. It is obvious, according to the information listed above about Mrs. Murnion, that she was loved and her life touched many people. Her life was also valued by the Creator who recorded in the Bible book of Hebrews that God does not forget all of the love and fine works shown by Mrs. Murnion (Heb 6:10). It was not God’s purpose that mankind suffer and die. At creation God was able to say that everything was “very good” (Gen 1:31) Death was introduced through Adam’s disobedience (Genesis 2:17). Jesus’ sacrifice of his human life on earth again gave us hope of everlasting life and soon death will be no longer occur (Revelation 21:4). Hopefully, faith in these Bible promises will ease the pain from this loss as you look forward to seeing Loriene Murnion again under perfect Paradise conditions as promised in the Bible.
