Lorraine Lucille Greenslit, 91, dearly beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully at the Friendship Villa in Miles City, Montana on Tuesday, March 11, 2008.
Lorraine was born in Clements, Minnesota on February 22, 1917, to Charles and TheresaBerberick. She was from a family of four brothers and four sisters.
Lorraine married Ken Greenslit of Morton, Minnesota, April 10, 1937 and they were married for 48 years when Ken died June, 1985. They made their home on the family farm in Morton. where Ken farmed, was a cattle buyer and ran a trucking business while Lorraine was a homemaker and tended to their five children. She was an active member in the St Johns Catholic Altar Society, volunteer for March of Dimes, participatedin a ladies sewing club and a ladies bowling league.
In 1959 they moved west to Miles City, Montana with the three youngest daughters,Karole, Jeanne and Linda. Lorraine was employed for many years at the Holy Rosary Hospital first as their wonderful baker and later as a surgical technician. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish and her religion and faith was a very important part of her life.
In 1976, Lorraine and Ken both retired and moved to Ventura, California to live closer to their son, Steve and oldest daughter, Sharon and their families. They greatly enjoyed the California life of sun, ocean and beautiful flowers. Lorraine was a friend to everyone and volunteered much of her time to friends in need. Her delicious baked goods given to all her neighbors and family were always appreciated. Lorraine lived a very active and healthy life - she walked daily, took aerobics, and learned to swim at age 72.
After the passing of both her husband, Ken and her son Steve, Lorraine returned to Miles City to be near her youngest daughter, Linda and family. She resided at the Eagles Manor for a number of years where she made many new friends and renewed old one's. Lorraine especially enjoyed her friendship with Sister Ruth and volunteering at Holy Rosary Hospital. In the last few years she has resided at Friendship Villa where she received a lot of love and excellent care.
Lorraine was an elegant lady, who always treated others with kindness and compassion. She was known for her stylish dress, her upbeat personality, and ready smile. When Lorraine was able, she never missed sending birthday and other occasion greetings to all her family and many friends.
Lorraine is survived by her four daughters (and spouses), Sharon Farenbaugh (Mike) of Bodfish, CA,Karole Ely (Jim) of Arcata, CA, JeanneKuchnyka (Gary) of Montrose, CO, and LindaHaker (Keith) of Miles City, MT.; 18 grandchildrn, 29 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Pat Wilhelm; her brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Georgianna Berberick and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, son, Steve, grandson, KellyFarenbaugh, her four sisters, Henrietta, Marie, Delores, Lois and her three brothers, Clarence, Jerome, and Charles.
A memorial service will be Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. A reception will follow at the Eagles Lodge.
