Louis J. Giacometto, 68, of Belle Creek, MT passed away May 9, 2011 at Eagle Cliff Manor in Billings.
Louis was born July 11, 1942 the eldest son of John and Catherine (Trucano) Giacometto. He attended various elementary schools in the Boyes and Belle Creek area and graduated from PRCHS in 1960. In the fall of 1962 he went on to Vo-Techschool in Fargo, ND where he majored in mechanics. He accepted his first mechanic job in Dickinson, ND at Grossman International Garage. In 1964 Louis and Brenda Potter were married and had 3 children, John Thomas, Roxanna and Tammy. Louis worked for Vanco Motors in Belle Fourche, SD before returning to the ranch in 1965. He at one time or another raised pigs, sheep, cattle and various types of crops. One of his greatest joys was getting in his tractor and working the land he grew up on. Louis and Brenda divorced in 1983. He married Mae McCutchan in December of 1989 at the ranch and he gained a step-daughter Amber. He continued to ranch until his health began to fail in 2009.
Louis enjoyed the 4th of July and barbequing with Tom and his family and camping with Roxy, Tammy and their families. He had a huge passion for hunting, fishing and flying. Louis was happiest in the mountainshunting for that next big game animal or on the lake fishing for salmon.He received his private pilots license in 1969 and enjoyed flying the super cub around the ranch and taking family vacations in the 210. In later years, much loved dachshunds Mick and Gus held a special place in his heart.
He is survived by his wife Mae, son Tom (Donna) Giacometto, daughters Roxanna (David) Killens, Tammy (Todd) Rismon, step-daughter Amber McCutchan, 7 grandchildren Brittani, Kashus, Ashley, Brandi, Skyler, Dawson, Carly and 2 great grandchildren Kamran and Braydon. Brothers Lawrence (Betty), Robert (Mary), Aunt Anita (Wayne) Wetherelt, Uncle Leo Giacometto, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew and numerous aunt and uncles.
A special thanks to Woody, Sara, Danette, Kelly and Aaron at Eagle Cliff Manor for your wonderful and compassionate care of our Dad. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral home in Broadus.
