Louis Stephenson

Visitation: Tuesday, September 14, 2004 from 10:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home

Funeral Services: Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church in Gillette, WY

Inurnment: Will be held at a later date.

Louis Stephenson, age 86, of Gillette, Wyoming, died September 11, 2004 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming of natural causes.

Louis A. Stephenson was born August 28, 1918, the son of Louis and Grace (Shane) Stephenson in Alhambra, California. Louis moved to Wyoming in 1925 with his parents and siblings. Louis attended school in Weston, WY at the Elk Creek Schools north of Gillette. Louis enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1941, serving during WWII. He married Dorothy Darlene Bracelin on April 4, 1942, in Salem, OR. Seven children were born of this union. Louis worked as a rancher in his early years and was a mechanic until he retired.

His family was the biggest joy of his life. He also loved playing cards with his sister, Vera, niece, Dene Looby and her husband Jack. He enjoyed going to coffee at local restaurants to visit with friends and family. He also enjoyed training horses.

Louis is survived by his daughters, Marsha Hockett of Gillette, Wyoming; Grace Masteller of Rozet, Wyoming, Sonya Dorr of Gillette, Wyoming, Kim Redinger of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his sons Louis L. Stephenson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and John Shane Stephenson of Juneau, Alaska; and a sister Vera Brown of Recluse, Wyoming, eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, daughter Sheila, four granddaughters Hayley Hockett- Rossi, Raydene Thomas, Candace Thomas, Amber Stephenson, brother Hervey Stephenson, and sister Dallas Pack.
